Title: The demon is Back
Post by Cheryl on Dec 26th, 2009 at 2:52am
My husband has been in remission for about 2 1/2 years. We were hoping he out grew them. He is 53 years old and has been a CH sufferer since he was 16. He has tried everything from bio feed back to every med a doctor can prescribe. Is there anything new that has come out over the past couple of years that we don't know about?

It would help if you could give us an idea of what drugs your husband has been on.

Btw,
Welcome to the nut house.

When did he try Oxygen?  Flow rates and masks have come a long way!!!

Also, try energy drinks with caffeine and taurine.  They have helped many people.... I use the big cans of starbucks (check label for taurine)

Also Zyprexa.. forget the generic name......seems to be a more recently used abortive.

Try and make a list of drugs used and suggestions can be made!

My hubby appears to be starting a CH cycle too....after almost 2 years without. He tried the RedBull for the first time too - once after finishing abort with O2...  Then yesterday I think he was having shadows and he put one down. Never saw the tank come out yesterday so perhaps it helped.

In addition to the newer method of O2 use, Rivea Corymbosa seeds come to mind.

Thanks all. I will have my husband make a list of all past meds. He has O2. It does abort them. I was hoping to find something new. Possibly herbal, holistic or some miracle to kick him back into remission. I think I will try to get him to see a new Neuro. He hasn't been to see the Dr. since his last bout of CH. He is highly agitated these days and when I try to get him to see the Dr. he says that they have never been able to do anything thus far and won't go. Seems there are some newer meds he hasn't tried.  Any recommendations for keeping the CH away at night or when sleeping? It seems to hit him every time he tries to sleep and now he is afraid to sleep. He is very fatigued.

I think some folks take melatonin Cheryl to help with the sleep.

Your husband sounds a lot like me when I am in cycle.  A prednizone taper can give you a few days relief!  Also, I made sure i didnt try and sleep until after my last (1 am) headache.  No napping during the day!!

If i tried to sleep any other time, I would get hit harder.

Also, I found that a well place frozen bag of peas, the occasional hot shower, and doing tasks that take as much brainpower as I can muster are good ways to lessen the impact.
