I'm at work, and we use ICQ messenger to converse between locations. However, this week something happened and my ICQ has become worthless. It loads, others see me sign in, but then when there is an attempt to use it, it shuts itself down. I've downloaded the most recent updates and it's still doing the same thing. I've cleaned up everything I could on the machine and still it won't work.

Anyone got any ideas?

How about uninstalling it, rebooting, and then a reinstall? Sounds like it's corrupted.

Can that be done and keep the same ICQ number and all the contacts?? I've never used this service other than here at work.

Install something like Trillian, which can talk to ICQ and will import your setting from the ICQ setup already on your computer. They have a free version and a paid version. For the PC, it's pretty cool. I use Adium on the Mac to do the same thing.

Thank you to the friend that phoned me with the fix. I needed to update flash player. Everything is working keen now.
