Title: newguy from houston

This is my 6th or 7th episode. Get them about every 5 to 7 years. Tried every thing. This time an oxygen concentrator 10L/min on an exercise bike breaks the night time headaches in 12 minutes. During the day its any drugs I have on hand. Neproxyn, indo-something, mepredine, all have plusses and minuses. This is a great place! The oxygen part says the concentrator doesn't work. It works for me.

Welcome to the board. I certainly wouldn't knock the concentrator if it's working, but you might find using 100% 02 from a tank may speed your aborts. Might be worth a shot.

For the day time hits have you tried energy drinks? Monster, Rock Star, any contaiing the combo of caffiene and taurine. Many can abort or at least really reduce an attack by chugging one at the onset of an attack. I use em for those buggy "shadows" in between hits, they'll usually calm those down for me.

And yeah...any med you pick...pluses and minuses!!! Welcome to the board.

Hey, if it keeps you from hurting - go for it!

Peddling full blast was my number one abortive until I discovered that I didn't have to hurt while I was aborting.

Michael,

I realize that when you know a cluster headache attack can and will last an hour give or take 15 to 20 minutes with no intervention, an abort in 12 minutes using an oxygen concentrator might sound ok...

Would you be interested in a method of oxygen therapy that can cut that abort time in half?

I've used an oxygen concentrator in a pinch to abort my attacks, but I've found over the last 5 years that higher oxygen flow rates are far more effective and the abort times significantly shorter when the oxygen flow rate supports hyperventilation.

My average abort time with this method of oxygen therapy is routinely under two (2) minutes...

Take care,

V/R, Batch
