Title: For the drinker's amongst us..
Post by LeLimey on Jan 7th, 2010 at 4:39pm
Wal-Mart announced that, sometime in early 2010, it will begin offering customers a new discount item .... Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is rumored to be teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable price -- in the $2 to $5 range.

Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of the Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "There is a market for inexpensive wine." said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas , Bentonville.

"However, branding will be very important." Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart wine brand.

The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:

1. Chateau du Traileur Parc
2. White Trashfindel
3. Big Red Gulp
4. World Championship Riesling
5. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
7. Peanut Noir
8. Ah Kain't Believe it's not Vinegar
9. Grape Expectations
10. Nasti Spumante

The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat (Squirrel).

You heard it here first....  ;)

I'm torn between Ah Kain't Believe it's not Vinegar (because that's what I'd expect it to taste like) and White Trashfindel.  So funny Helen, where DO you get this stuff?  ;D

When I'll find myself at Wal-mart one day, I believe that Nasti Spumante or Peanut Noir would make nice souvenirs to my wine-loving mother... ;)

Uncapped through the parking lot could keep that buggy pusher rattling on down the street yelling at passing traffic.  Hidden replacement costs

Juicin' many of the fine dollar wines mentioned was fine picklin'.

MD had a peach blend, a novel sundowner change hardier than ridin' the apple wine cart.

No surprises that they were my two favourites as well Christy! I was literally sat here with tears rolling down my face laughing. Paul came into the room to see if I was okay bless him!
