First time I tried verapamil (320 mg per day), I started noticing veins bulging in my feet and hands - not always, but frequently enough to notice. No general swelling, just bulging veins. Then a few capillaries burst, leaving small black-and-blue marks in my palm (and elsewhere). This perplexed my HA specialist and my GP, as verapamil is a vasoconstrictor and should be lowering BP. EKG and BP were fine. It was time to start tapering off the verap anyway, and these symptoms subsided. I've since gone back on verap twice, without the bulging vein symptoms.
I only messed with Topamax for a week, years ago. It made me perpetually thirsty, and I downed quarts of water & juice daily, but never bloated. Do check this with your doctor. Fox |

Please mention this to your dr. Sounds like a definete side effect of verapamil. How serious I do not know I am not a dr.

Have heard it from a few others using verapamil, too. My first year or even longer, there was feet swelling. Not in the past few years afterward though staying on it. Bodies may adjust somehow in the longer term.
