Title: You won't believe this
Post by NancyB on Jan 30th, 2010 at 11:20am
As I mentioned before, I had s cervical steroid shot on Monday, things went well for a day and half before everything went straight down hill. Called the Doc yesterday to say it's not working let's try something else- it's not one of his days in town. Talk to he nurse who talks to his PA- long story short they pretty much tell me to dope myself to the gills untill my follow up on the 9th. Great. End up in the ER this morning and the first thing he asks me ( and he's NOT a nuero ) is have i tired high flow oxygen. I walk out an hour and a half later PF with a mask and an O2 script. Amazing. Can't get the "expert" to try it ,but the ER was all over it.

Hi Nancy,

I believe it.  Kudos to the ER!  Glad you have the Rx for O2.  On the 9th you have a serious lesson to teach your "expert" (if you return).

Good luck, battle the Beast with O2, and find another doctor (headache specialist), if you can.

Yeah I believe it too. You never know what or who you are going to get when you go to the ER in the throws of a cluster. You just happened to luck out and find the doctor working that night knew about clusters.

The good news is now more and more doctors are learning about 02 as the first line of offense to use.

I am glad you got the script. Now go fill it, use it and let us know what happened.

Nancy,

Good on you...  and the doc at the ER!  What flow rate did he put on the prescription?

Check you PM...

Take care,

V/R, Batch

The flow rate was 10 - 12 , but the regulater goes a bunch higher so I can set it at what ever I need. My wonderful husband went right out and got me 2 tanks so hopefully I m good for a bit.

Great for you Nancy.... two E tanks in high cycle would last me two days.
all good for you...stock up ..usually those O2 places will let ya take as many tanks home as you need.

Also ask them for a high flow regulator, and they can order one...(If not on hand. )  Its a good time to educate them!!!!    Ya...sometimes they are more open than the doctors  ....and eager to learn about something they never heard about.      good luck to ya. :)

Just double checked the regulator and it goes up to 15. Think the ER had me more on an 8 and still had good results. As for the oxygen place- hell they met my husband at the store today even though they're closed on Saturday and we've never done business with them before. Sometimes it is good to live in a small town.

Now get a collection of tanks going and never be without a full tank.
