I started using Tax Cut by H&R Block a few years ago. I don't know if it's easier, or more intuitive, or what....I DO know it's cheaper.

Turbo Tax last year dropped my daughter from my return for some reason. Didn't catch it till after filing. Cost me $1000. Got it back after filing an amended, but TurboTax refused to do anything about it because they said I didn't lose anything. No, nothing but about 12 hours trying to get the form to download properly.
I've used them for the last three years, but doubt I will this time. Jerry |

I've used then for 3 years, this is the 4th and the software for WI homestead is faulty.
WIS IRS has twice rejected their "fix" and I've talked to two "specialists". One on 2/2 and I was told an answer would be available in 72 hours. I didn't get any notification until today, 216 hours later, and they hung up on me. Now I'm going to demand a refund of my filing fee or they can see me in court. BTW... as a side note...The New Jim Bean Red Stag Wild cherry Kentucky Bourbon is the Bomb! On the rocks!!! |

I'll buy! Someone from the "firm" finally bottled my "Jim Beam on the rocks, a splash of bitters and a splash of cherry juice" that I've been mixing for over 20 years. Mmmm Mmmm Good! |

I'm fuming...they can take my money withing minutes of filing, but I have to wait 7-10 business days for a f*%^ing refund?
Insane!!!!!!!!!! Vent over..... ETA: meaning refund of the fees to file the twice rejected filing, because they refuse to admit that their software is written wrong and make the corrections needed. |

What can I say.... I keep seeing these "free" filing things on TV commercials and all that.
For those of us in the business... we just shake our heads. What I pay for my software (professional brand - not advertised on TV) we get updates several times a day and have very little trouble during the season, but I file a few hundred returns. Now watch and I'll be yelling at my software people this afternoon about something! :) Hopefully not -- they're real good about answering dumb questions. But I've done an audit after they used Turbo T and it was a MESS. I don't recommend it at all. It just doesn't ask the RIGHT questions. Good luck... Hugs :-* |

I've used it for our joint return since 01 until last year and since we bought our house in Nov of 07, my wife wanted me to have it prepared professionally to see if we could save any money.
Our credit union provides the free version of Turbo Tax on their website so I entered all the info and ended up owing $656. I was delivering flowers part time and my boss's tax guy charged me $75 to prepare em and I only owed em $635....LOL!!! I ran it again on the free online software and owe em $106 which I will have post marked to them on April 15th! DD |

I'd never had problems until this year either. My federal was just fine.
Once my money is refunded, I'll go right to the State's IRS site and file. |

Turbo Tax....Free!
We've all seen the commercials. Free......??? Remember, you get what you pay for. I'll stick with a professional. It might cost a little more but if he screws up he has to fix it. I know where he lives. |
