The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that set policy for Medicare coverage for DME-Oxygen flatly state there is no National Coverage for DME-Oxygen for cluster headache sufferers.
We've got a request for a National Coverage Determination on DME-Oxygen as an abortive for cluster headaches in the works. This will take up to 180 days after we make the final submission for CMS to come up with a determination... We've got a strong case but you've got to understand the nature of government run bureaucratic medicine... It is neither readily available or inexpensive, and above all, when it is available, it's rationed...
Until they make a determination, the following holds, so you'll need to rely on supplemental medical insurance...
