Title: Walking Rufus
Post by DennisM1045 on Feb 19th, 2010 at 10:13am
This new dog of mine gets me up at 5:30 every morning.  We take a 2 mile walk together to start our day.  Tuesday it snowed about 10 inches or so.  I took this pic Wednesday morning on our return trip.

Um, I don't know how to put this gently, Dennis. Pics of snow and houses are nice, but I want to see pics of Rufus.

Why can't I see pictures here? All I get are X-d out picture icons. [Update - I can see this picture and one on another thread, but still not the ones of Rufus. Hmmmmmm.]

My buddy "Chon" is a great support for me. He knows when the beast arrives and lies down quietly (and "quietly" is not a normal function for him!) under my desk. He watches me carefully each time I pace past him, and I tell him he's a good boy. When the beast departs, he wags his tail and I always kneel down and thank him for his support.

I dunno, Rufus is really a pretty dog(tell him I said handsome), but I'm a house junkie! That is a one cool house, Dennis!!

About the snow.........well, if I'm tired of it, and I'm in Oregon, I can ONLY imagine how others must feel about it! ish!!!

We're actually in full sunshine, 60 degrees and expected to last through the weekend! Can you say cruise time???

Thank you for sharing, Dennis!

Cathi :D

Up in New England it's par for the course.  It's actually been a pretty mild winter up here.  I ain't complaining.

Must be something wrong with your internet connection to Photobucket.  That's where I'm hosting the pics.

Two beautiful dogs.  Thanks for sharing guys.  I'm partial to border collies - they just have such an intelligent look in their eyes.

Rufus looks like a gentle giant.

WileyP,
If you click on the *x*, the pic should open up in a new window.  It happens to me too.

Dennis and Wiley, those are beautiful dogs.

I am concerned though.  Dennis, your son at 10 yrs. old is 5 inches taller than me.   :o

Now my little old mutts (all 200 lbs of them) are just plain jealous "Why do THEY get TAKEN for walks and WE have to go ALL BY OURSELVES???" - I 'splained to them that THEY are FARM dogs NOT CITY dogs!!! Drats! now they're whinning!!! I just hate it when they do that!!!!!) ::)

Since we're posting pup pictures, here's a new one of Penny.  She's right around 40 pounds now, at 18 weeks.

Great looking dogs, guys.   :)

Best,

George

Thanks, Delta - That works great! I appreciate the hint!

Dennis: Rufus is a fine looking friend! Now, just who take whom for a walk in the morning?

Wow, Penny has that "I'm all grown up teenager" look on her face now.  Love that breed.  Don't know if I could live with the bray though.

You'd be surprised how well behaved Rufus is.  So long as you keep up a good pace he wants nothing more than to walk right next to you.  Of course it took us more than a few miles to get to this point  ::)

Good looking doggies!

Wiley, you have a beautiful Border Collie.  That tilted head doggie look melts my heart.  :)

George, Penny sure looks like a sweet girl!

Here's a pic of Lily.  She's technically the neighbors dog, but she lives at my house and has adopted me as her mommy/owner.  She was part of the pack when I had dogs and has never left.  She has her own bed, food and water bowl in the garage and I let her in every night for awhile to get her belly scratched and doggie love.  Thank God the neighbors understand.

Since we are displaying all of these beautiful canines, i'd thought i'd share my own pic.  This is my doggie Nala.
She was born and raised in the Ivory Coast with a missionary from the states.  She's been further around the world than me, lol!

The breed is Belgian Tervuren

Beth, I think you need to coordinate how much food that pooch is getting with your neighbor  ;D  That dog has a great gig!!!

Chad, great looking dog.

Mel, I always thought that Shelties were some of the most beautiful dogs ever.

I love this thread!  Keep those pics coming  8-)

Awww, I'm gonna learn to upload pictures some day so ya'll can see all my babies... Homer, my Pitt/boxer is the oldest (4), Orville, the Pit-mation (1/2) is just proud to be here and Rosco, the Jack Russell Terrorist is not long for this world if he gets in the trash can (his temper tandrums!!!) a few more times....

But they're all spoiled rotten and I wouldn't have them any other way. And then we have THREE cats to keep the dogs in line and they all get along great...

Needless to say I'm a dog person (the cats are just to keep the dogs on their toes and kill mice and snakes). Never met a dog I didn't like.

I was never fond of little dogs before, but this little 55 lb. guy is my bud:

I know that he's funny looking, but I couldn't ask for a better dog.  Here is another from today in his winter coat while we were out chasing some Whitetails today.

What he doesn't have in size, he makes up with heart.

Oddly enough, so far (at least) she's the quietest dog I've ever had.  Go figure.   :-?
