Title: Sorry folks but its here again. Post by cavalier on Feb 22nd, 2010 at 8:57pm
As a member of this site I feel it is my duty to inform the uninformed of the potential life changing events that now present themselves in the nature of the unnatural by the governmental ungovernable world wide departments of our future.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), most powerful particle-smasher ever assembled by the human race and possible portal to other dimensions, is to fire up its beams following the Xmas break in a week's time Thursday the 25th. The following few weeks will see the Big Knob turned gradually up until the beams are at 3.5 tera-electron-volts and particles are thus colliding at 7 TeV. .A top boffin at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) says that the titanic machine may possibly create or discover previously unimagined scientific phenomena, or "unknown unknowns" - for instance "an extra dimension". "Out of this door might come something, or we might send something through it," said Sergio Bertolucci, who is Director for Research and Scientific Computing at CERN, briefing reporters including the Reg at CERN HQ earlier this week. Now I know what you’re thinking… reading that they intend to Turn the Big knob up may fulfill that yearning for the inexplicable or may just give you a knee tremble but … They have quietly sneaked this upon us, so on the 26th if you find your toaster walking along the work top singing wheels on fire, worry. Then again the new president of the universe covered in ganglions and an uncontrollable itch down his nether regions spouting the fine lines of lumbago esk doesn’t seem to bad a notion considering what we have. see you in the new order of chaos. |

All is fine, even if they find the Higgs-Bosen. As long as they don't try to figure out its mass.

Power and safety downtime upgrades conveniently coincided with allowing the Swiss enough available electricity for home heating for the winter.
Predictions at this point of possible negative outcomes parallel Fermi's sporting bets prior to Trinity. He didn't win the closest kt estimate but side bets on lighting the atmosphere on fire got small action. Cern's competition with an American counterpart named for Fermi as to Higgs-Boson was better than 60-40 last year, unpopular enough though for Las Vegas to offer betting. No heard-of action on any expanded dimensionality as string fights to be an actual theory. Very quiet room for betting there. |
