Can anyone please advise me how you are able to take a 6mg shot and divide it into three 2mg doses? I had read where one of you was doing that and I am not sure how to make that kit that you get from the pharmacy do that...

I have a hard time beleiving this works.If you can get by with a third of one shot then why wouldnt the company just give ya that to begin with?

Also.who has the time and patience to do all this when in pain?

Trust me, when you're desperate to get more injections especially when some doctors  and insurances limit what you get per month, saving is key.  Plus, Glaxo Smith Kline like most pharmaceutical companies do not have a clue  or maybe they do (scamage, lol) that it only takes as low as 2mg worth of sumatriptan to abort a hit.  You'll see a lot talk about rebound headaches.  Too much Imitrex can lead to longer cycles and more intense hits which is something we all DON'T want.

BACKGROUND: Subcutaneous (SQ) sumatriptan 6 mg is effective in the treatment of acute cluster headache attacks. However, patients sometimes benefit from a dose less than 6 mg. OBJECTIVE: Therefore, we designed a prospective open study to evaluate how many patients benefit from a dose less than 6 mg SQ sumatriptan. METHODS: We enrolled 81 consecutive patients with cluster headache and recorded their use of SQ sumatriptan and oxygen. Patients regularly using SQ sumatriptan 6 mg were advised to treat attacks with doses less than 6 mg and with oxygen. Efficacy and side effects of the different treatment options (6 mg, 3 mg, 2 mg, and oxygen) were evaluated. RESULTS: As a result, 74% of the patients using SQ sumatriptan 3 mg showed efficacy and 89% reported efficacy after 2 mg. Seventy-nine percent reported side effects after the use of SQ sumatriptan 6 mg (29% severe side effects). After the use of 2 mg SQ sumatriptan, only 50% of the patients reported side effects, none of these were classified as severe. Patients' preference was 41% for 6 mg sumatriptan, 28% for doses less than 6 mg, and 31% for oxygen. CONCLUSIONS: We conclude that sumatriptan in doses less than 6 mg can be effective in the acute treatment of cluster headache attacks. We suggest that patients should have experience in their individual efficacy of sumatriptan doses less than 6 mg.

Wow.I will give it a try

Just had a glimpse hint of getting another one and i tried this.Well it all went good as the procedure goes but only taking a 3rd or even a half did not work.I ended up taking a whole shot.Therefore i used a shot and a half.They use 6mg for a reason.If it was to much you would OD and if it wasnt enuf they just wouldnt sell.I weigh 245 lbs so that may make a difference.Use your own discretion.I know that i will be using a full shot here on out.

Would it work fast to SNORT the pill? I bet it would.Has anyone tried it?

Or even cook it and shoot yourself up?

If you'll notice, the standard dosages for sub-q, nasal, and pill are quite different (6mg, 20mg and either 50 or 100mg). Not sure it would be a great idea to shoot 50 or 100mg when most users complain about icky side effects at 6mg sub-q.

Bad idea all around. There is, believe it or not, some thought and testing behind dosages and different delivery formats.

Please be careful my friend.  Shooting refers to veins, not skin or muscle.  6 or less mg should abort no problem :)
