Title: Saying hi from England
Post by Dollyhair on Mar 10th, 2010 at 5:20am
Thought I would come and introduce myself. My name is Caron and I have suffered with CH for over 20 years. I was on Verapamil which helped immensly. Unfortunately 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and last year was taken off Verapamil and put on Bisoprolol and had an ICD fitted in July 2009. The cardiologist has told me that I cannot go back on Verapamil, so back in January when my cycle started, i went to my GP and asked him (very forcefully) that I wanted 02. Wow, what a lifesaver for me, as I am waiting for an appointment with the Neurologist in Queens Square, London, as I am not sure if there are any preventatives or abortives that I can take with my heart condition.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Take Care
Caron

I'm very comforted by your upcoming appointment! The group you will be seeing are excellent.

Lithium may be an option as a preventive med. Worth asking about it. Generally used for chronic CH but....

Hi and welcome, too.  Glad you've been dealt the necessary oxygen in house and hope another offering of preventive help is in the cards for you.     :)

Welcome Caron, Hi from California. Lots of good info here. I just recently found this site after 5 weeks of a CH bout. Good luck at the neurologist. Keep us posted.

I took the advise of some I trusted here, increased my 02 to 15lpm, took 9mg melatonin and calcium citrate 3 days ago
and my cluster has ended, I hope, I know what it feels like when the cycle stops, I don't want to jinks it, but I think I'm done for now. I was nearing the end of my usual cycle, 6-10 weeks, but I have felt sooooo good the last 2 days. Best wishes for pain free days
Steve
