Title: Medical O2
Post by Charlie on Mar 12th, 2010 at 10:15pm
This old stupid thing about prescription "medical O2" came to mind as I saw a Buffalo welding supply company unloading a dozen O2 tanks at one of these Star Trek corporate medical centers here. Do you still encounter this shit story?

Hi Charlie, I've see you have been here a while. Not to sound whinny, But to tell my story short. I have sent some messages to the board, Hope you can read my story.  I've had CH's since the end of 2004. I had breast cancer, went thru a mastectomy , Chemo ( 6 months ), Radiation ( 6 wks 5days a week ). During radiation I started these headaches. Now I have had migraines alot in my life, and I new these headaches where different ! So 2 1/2 yrs later I was diagnosed. I'm not crazy. I'am chronic, the most I have been without CH's is 3 weeks. And they do sometimes are not as painful. but with alot of shadows. I guess what I'am asking you is. Through all of my health problems I have no INSURANCE. The county paid for my cancer. And I see a clininc for my CH's. I'm currently on 320mgs Verapamil (because of this website). nortriptylin 50mgs. I have not worked for the last 3 years. I did see a wack job neuro( 1 1/2yrs ) ,  which I over dosed with lithium, stayed in the hospital for 7 days. Because of this I have alot of tremors. The clinic sent me to this neuro. My doctor at the clinic will not even look at the info for oxygen. I have brought in to him to review. He refuses. I do the red bull every night. But the problem I'm running in to is my blood pressure is very high . The Dr has his hands full with me and at a clinic is not good health care. I will have surgery this month on the 30th I have a Infection on my mastectomy side, and the county has approved this for me. Scared took some time lots of meds. Finally. My husband has been my rock but he works alot and I well I'm just tired. alone alot, and giving up alot. Charlie my question is how or can I get 02 with out a scrip, and to make it a little harder. I have little little money. I do want to say one thing I'am cancer free right now. Cancer was a walk in the park compared to CLUSTER HEADACHES. If any thing thanks for hearing me out.

Tamara, please look into or have your husband look into...Welder oxygen.  You will NOT need a prescription for it from a Dr.  Over-all I've found it is even cheaper.   I was fortunate enough to have a friend break up his welding duo/regulator and just give it to me.  I get it filled at a welding supply place for 26.00.  That size of a tank can last me through 10 to 12 headaches if I catch them as soon as I feel the 1st. twinge.

You should be able to get the info from people like Linda. Someone should be able to help you with the other stuff.

Welders 02 needs no scrip and O2 is 02 regardless what they say.

I've never had to use it so I don't have experience. Others will help.

Good luck with everything Tamara.

Charlie

Here, I threw this together as a list of jumbled thoughts about the subject:
