Thank you everyone!  My birthday day (Friday) was spent driving down to my daughter's house for the weekend, spending it with beautiful little granddaughter Maegan.  We had a lovely time.

Mother's Day (today) was spent driving back home.  During my leg of driving, my lead foot got me in trouble.  I was pulled over and ticketed for doing 81 in a 65 mph zone.  I must appear in court on June 3 in a county that is about an hour and a half away from home, I don't even know where it is yet. On June 1 I have to fly to Dallas to meet with my manufacturers, flying back on June 2 getting home around 11:00 pm.  Then rise and shine and drive to the courthouse and be there by 9:00 am on the 3rd.

CRAP!

This is my first ever speeding ticket in my life, and it's a doozy!

Why not just pay the ticket and be done with it? Sounds like a lot less hassle.

I'm not allowed to just pay the fine.  Either my lawyer or I must appear in traffic court because I was ticketed at more than 15 mph over the posted speed limit.  The trooper would not cut me some slack by lowering it to 80 mph. >:( :'(

Then I guess you'll have to take your licks. That sucks.

Oh Sandy, that sucks!  The only ticket I got in my life for speeding was doing 82 in a 55.  I was fortunate that the cop wrote it down for doing 20mph over instead.  I did get a $260 fine and 6 points taken away though! 

I will say, that DID teach me a lesson, I now never go more than 7 over the speed limit unless I'm passing, LOL.

Traffic wasn't what I would call heavy, but it was at least moderate.  We're on a 4 lane Interstate divided highway with grass median between - however by NC state - this route is still considered a "route", not an interstate and posts a max speed of 65.  I had been running at between 70 and 75 in the right lane along with everyone else.  I pulled into the left lane to pass a slower car coming up a small rise.  When I pulled out into the left lane, I had two motorcycles pulling out right behind me and just about running up my butt, so I speeded up to pass the car to get out of the way of the cycles.  As we came over the hill, there sits a state trooper who nailed me, but not the two cycles behind me.  I knew immediately that he had nailed me, but hoped he had also nailed the two cycles behind me.  Nope, just little ole me.

That trooper could have reduced his read on my speed by 1 mph, just one to keep my record clean and me out of court.  He ran my license so he knew I had a clean record. Nope.

I can't make excuses - yes I was speeding so I guess I've gotta take my licks, but it still sucks!  I just wanna know how much and how bad my licks are gonna be.
