After 22 years of this shit, the BEAST miraculously took almost 6 years off.
Has anyone had a long remission like this? Also, I’ve been on Verapamil (120mg x 3PerDay) for a couple weeks. It “seems” to be working since I rarely get a 10. (The pain is not near where it used to be!!!) I think it’s been well documented HERE that alcohol is generally a BAD thing for episodics and a not so much of a problem for chronics. This time around I can not only drink, but it also ‘seems’ to be helping. My biggest worry ever was to turn chronic. Has anyone had similar reactions? After so many PF years, DAMN I’M BACK!!! Grant (BTW - WTF happened to jonny? boring without him) |

Jimi is in a longer remission then that, Goadsby told him you're never really "cured"...just on a looong remission! Goadsby also says the remissions get longer as we get older. My last break was over 2 years........it was heavenly!
Welcome back Grant.....sorry beasty never seems to lose your address. :'( Joe |

My last full hit was 1991 when I was 45. I can't believe it's been so long. All I get twice a year are 5 second zingers....oddly, my last was yesterday while on the bus. It doesn't come close to the horror it was however.
Alcohol never affected them for me although I'm not much of a drinker....only at the cons! Here's to another 700 years of PF for you. Charlie |

Thanks Charlie! I'm glad you're still here - somethings never change!
BTW - I was just looking at my profile (since I'd been away for a while) and I noticed that is EXACTLY 2800 days since I 'joined'. THANK YOU DJ!!!!!!!!! |

The older I get, I'm 47, the shorter my remission, 14 months nowadays, and the longer my cycles, 4-6 months. But I was only getting 1-2 headaches a day, although every one was a k9-k10 an 2-4 hours. Diltiazem, 360mg daily and lithium, 1200mg daily stopped pretty much all but 1 or 2 a week and O2 takes care of them.
The ghost still has a lawn chair planted behind my right eye, but so far with this medicine I consider it mission accomplished, to quote a popular(unpopular?) politician. And definitely no alcohol until a couple months after the ghost goes into hibernation(but does he ever really???). |

The longest remission I've ever experienced since beginning this long, strange trip over 20 years ago is 9 months. Happened twice.

Whew!
Watta day! I saw the fun-guy and also got my O2 delivered. The O2 is sitting unused. My other purchase is gone but seems to have helped. I slept for 11 hours and woke up with a 'clear head'. The only problem this morning is my damn nose won't quit running. |

Seasonal allergies are pretty rampant right now. Any connection? Benadryl knocks me out, but works pretty well.
