I never knew Nine Inch Nails sang anything that slow.

I should have phrased that differently, Opus.

Thanks Carolyn.

I sit here typing away, pausing to look at the photographs of my father and my brothers, while my dad lays in hospital rehab center waiting for his calling. What I see in the photos bears no resemblance of the man we visit.

He is already gone, laying there, after fighting the good fight and finally scrumming to renal failure and all of the other ailments of one having lived so long.

This song is what a master could craft in advance of the point of the upcoming inevitability and how rough the journey of life and the deep sorrow of all the things you wish you could take back.

I asked him on Sunday what the seventy year old Henry would say to the eighty year old Henry. He is too gone to understand. I know what he would tell himself but as you slide you begin to take what you can get of all that you know; living on the momentum of life and pausing to say "I'm sorry".

I asked a priest that I've known for forty years what prayer must I say?

He said, "God's will be done..."

Sorry for going on but I had to express my observations and how this song prompted my thoughts.

No sorrows..just some thoughts...of mending fences and such.

Actually I should have phrased my link differently.

Johnny sure had a knack of picking songs that fit his style.
