After 15 years of headaches, I finally tried using oxygen, 2 weeks ago. I've used many pills with little or no success until lithium, which has curbed the ch's significantly. But the O2 works faster than anything as an abortive, except the imitrex injections, and there are zero side effects. I wonder why I waited so long to try it, considering that I would put any pill in my mouth or liquid up my nose if the doctor put it in front of me.

Did it take you awhile to try oxygen, and if you don't use it now, why not?

Took me forever to try it........now it's my bestest friend! 8 little E-tanks in the garage....my security blanket. Like you, lithium is my prevent, nice the number of hits you seem to avoid with it.

So it don't matter diddly squat WHY it took you so long, just damned glad you have it now! ;)

When my Neuro first mentioned it I thought, how can that work for such pain? I don't want to be on O2. Well I got 2 E-tanks and a 8lpm reg and the first hit I aborted I was hooked.

That was 21 yrs ago... Now I have 9 E's an aluminum M 2 reg's that go to 60lpm and 2 O2pti masks. And just got a welding tank for extra comfort.

The only way you can take them from me is from my cold dead hands.

I was diagnosed right away by Dr. Lee Kudrow. (He is one of the pioneers in CH research and treatment.  Look him up)

He put me on 02  Immediately and I have been an 02 advocate for the last 23 years.

I feel for those who haven't been indoctrinated.  They are suffering needlessly.

I asked a doctor today to write me a scrip for oxygen, and he said it didn work, and wouldn write it. My dad is 56, has had these damn things for many many years, and he swears by his oxygen as well as you guys. This doc. was an old man too. More like an old dumbass. This is a bad time to be out of work and have no ins. and have cluster head. The normal person, or doctor for that matter, has no idea what we go through. I like this forum already. 2:58 in the morn. and gettin shit off my chest. If anyone read this article  ;) thanks

Get a different doctor.  A good one will write you a script for it, and even if you had no insurance, it IS more affordable than many prescription meds for CH's.

I agree. Get a different doctor. I have been to several doctors and I think maybe they just give me what i want because they are tired of seeing my face and hearing me complain. But I have never had any trouble with a dr saying oh that doesnt work so I am not going to give it to you. Truth is they have no idea whats going to work and what isnt. So you really should find a dr who will listen to you and give you what you ask for. =)

I will never understand Dr's who want us to try every drug out there before writing out a Rx for 02.  Shame on every one of them!  >:(

Navigating the 02 route was intimidating/confusing (especially when one is in pain and scared) before ch.com had the 02 link.  Thanks to all who made that possible!!
