Penalize BP CEO Tony Hayward 1 million dollars a day from his personal bank account for every day the spill continues.
Should be fixed in a couple of days. |

Johnny, although I love Colbert, I was being serious.
The hay and hair to soak up the oil once it hits shore (or just offshore) are real solutions to clean up. What I want to see is if there is anything else by real, everyday people that could work? |

I agree, shorelines only. But how far out?
Once you get into a little depth, however, looks like even more clean up would be required. Not only the oil coming from the spill which is now washing over the top of the sunken hair booms, but also the hair booms themselves laying on the bottom. Hope those trying to use the hair boom realize that it's only good in very shallow waters. Sandy |

Part of the problem for the booms closer in is that you are already getting into the marshlands/wetlands. Any further out and who's going to monitor the booms to see that they don't get a chance to sink?
Where are all the big stars that are eco-friendly? Where are the major starts that live in New Orleans? Why don't you see them out there raising money for these families that have lost their livelihood? Kevin Costner is the ONLY one who has stepped up to do shit. |

Again, that might work on open water/beaches, but I don't see where it would work on the estuaries and marshlands. And again, it would have to be monitered 24/7 by somebody.

Where are all the heros from PETA ? This is their chance to finally do something thats usefull.

The "Heros" from PETA are all out checking with lawyers to see how much they can cash in on all the lawsuits which will be coming shortly.

This may sound a little simplistic, but what about oil tankers and vaccums? Can't they hit some of those things that are under the water and vaccum them into the tankers?
The oil might not be usable, but it would keep it from spreading... |

I don't know if that'd suck with more force than the propulsion of the oil gushing out?? I wish they'd let Kevin Costner's machines go in there and start working to separate the oil from the water. It was invented back when "Waterworld" was made 20 years ago. |

Probably talking to their lawyers with their hands out just waiting to rake in some cash from lawsuits against everybody and their brothers! They are never there to help with a clean up of some environmental disaster - just to prosecute later. Let them get their hands dirty just once. Don't hold your breath! Sandy |
Title: Re: Oil clean up solutions Post by Sandy_C on Jun 10th, 2010 at 1:52pm
We're talking about the oil spill here so I've got a question.
This is without doubt a major environmental disaster in the Gulf. Who built the well and its BOP (blow out preventer) and the three "fail safe backups for that BOP? Answer: Transocean Who owns the well. Answer: Transocean Who provided the concrete to build that well: Answer: Haliburten Who leases and runs that well: BP Who is responsible for maintaining that well: Answer BP Who is responsible for checking that well, making sure it meets all standards and functions properly: Answer: Federal Government Who passed that well stating it functioned properly: Answer Federal Government Who is responsible for the failure of that well: Answer: Transocean, Haliburten , BP and Federal Government Who is working and attempting to clean up the spill: BP Who is paying for not only the stoppage of the spill but the clean up, compensation to the fisherman, compensation for the loss of tourism, compensation for everything: BP Why is it that we are not seeing anything in either monetary or actual physical attempts to help stop this spill and pay the astronomical costs for clean up, loss of business, tourism etc coming anyone other than BP? Why is BP being held solely responsible for all costs? Sandy |

Some type of legal insurance battle looks to be in the background, not that it matters to the surrounding publically violated concerns since it's so overwhelming.
The twin towers had one, it got really out there in airy defining, based on whether or not both towers were considered one incident. The dif meant billion type dollars to owners. There were comparisons to if the two atom bombs in Japan were considered one incident or two. Based on the plan, one, went the arguments for a single incident. |
