Title: Clusterf&*k!!! Post by Katherinecm on Jun 7th, 2010 at 4:07pm
(Background info for those who don't know me: I was in remission until I was assaulted by a patient and got a concussion. So now I'm in the unique spot of having my CH treatments paid for by work comp.)
So work-comp sent me to yet another new neurologist today. I got there half an hour early (because you never know how long it’s going to take to park at the hospital). I went inside, checked in, and waited. And waited. And finally went to the desk and asked why I hadn’t been seen yet when I was supposed to have my appointment 35 minutes ago. It turned out they’d set my appointment for a half hour AFTER when they told me it was set for. At least that was the excuse at the time. An hour later I finally saw the doctor. He decided to “examine” me which meant he handed me a hospital gown to change into, went out and dictated his report (I could hear him!) and came back to confirm what he’d already dictated! Seriously, if I was a paying patient and he pulled that crap I would complain and complain. And I still might. How the hell is that ethical? At the end of all that he told me he wasn’t there to treat me, just to evaluate me. That if I hadn’t responded to 17 treatments before I wasn’t going to respond to the 18th, and that there was nothing new anyway. Then he said I’d managed to go into remission for no reason once before so hopefully I would again. Whether that would be in two days or two weeks or two decades however, that he couldn’t predict. So on the one hand… with the exception of the bass-ackwards way he dictates his reports, he may be the most honest doctor I’ve ever seen. On the other- what an ass! Absolutely NO concern for my emotional well being. Ugh. When I went back to employee health I asked to be treated by my own neurologist from now on. At least she had ideas for things left to try. We shall see what they decide. |

Ouch. I've been lucky and even the less knowledgeable doctors have always had decent bedside manner. What a pisser. >:(

Unfortunately, *this* doctor is not working for Katherine, but the insurance company. Now that is over with, there should be no problem with you continuing on with your original doc.
WC varies from state to state, but if you need any help, pm me. I was a rehab specialist for Intracorp (division of CIGNA) and I handled WC cases. Carolyn |
