If what DJ had in mind for this "general posts" section.
One political thread after another, after another, after another. ::) oh yes, after another!!!!!!!!!! Like I said.. jest wonderin. what do you all think? Maybe if we would all start posting stuff here that we post to Face-book..we might have a more active board. We also might have more folks interested in this convention that Goadsby will speak at. So far there are 8 registered. Sad........ |

I am posting despite the fact no one will probably read this.
The General post section is really for anything not CH related. Jokes also have their own section. The low convention numbers probably has a lot to do with the economy. Paul |

I read it!
I think the idea of this page is for us to post whatever we are interested in. If there is something besides politics you are interested in post it. You never know who else might be interested. Seems I remember baby pics, wedding pics, even a few car pics etc being posted from time to time. Have at it. Jerry |

Some can be post holes for posturing a fence post up the posterior. We've just general posts and private posts, there's no ranking in between. ;) Quote:
There's even a hitching post there! |

General Posts This is where you will post your normal everyday messages... It appears to me the description is self explanatory. I find no distinction limiting political threads/posts in the description, nor any other topic someone may wish to discuss. As far as the low/non convention attendance, there may be reasons for this...economics, or other reasons. |

I had my water heater flood my basement yesterday but you're all too far away to help and I've got it almost back to normal now.
Back to your regular programming. ;) |

The General Board, is just that - general.
Politics - if that's on a lot of peoples minds, you will see lots of threads. How about threads on birds, flowers, pictures, children, grandchildren, just had a hard day? They are all general posts. As to convention registrations - SIGN UP GDit! This is going to be one of the best conventions with the most respected list of speakers covering topics from CH and what is it and treatments, to ONSI, to the psychological problems incurred by both the sufferer and their supporters. Repeat - SIGN UP! Do not wait to pass GO. Do it now! Sandy |

I guess the reason I was wondering what you all thought is because several people have brought it to my attention that in the past, the general section was about everything. It was where we all connected to each other and about things going on in our lives. Since face-book came about, it seems that THAT is where all those conversations are taking place.
Oh, and Kevin? Once again your power of the written word astounds me. ;D Quote:

I have a Facebook account that I was "forced" to set up. Both of my daughters have accounts and they were posting pictures on their Facebook accounts of my precious granddaughters. The only way I could see those pics was to log on to their accounts. You can't just log on to see what is on their accounts unless you have an account of your own, so hence - my account.
Since then, I have received literally hundreds of messages (including to my private e-mail account) from people I have never heard of in my life. I have since learned how to block everybody out yet I still get the occasional so and so wants to be my friend on my e-mail (which by the way was never given to Facebook?????) I hate Facebook and will not ever go there again. >:( Sandy |

I still don't get the appeal of facebook at the levels that I understand exist. Of course I don't navigate there well at all. I'll never get the appeal of all the "gift" stuff. Even I don't have that kind of time.

I also had a water heater make a little flood. I didn't really care though. It was in the garage at our rental house. Their stuff got wet, not mine.
I love being a slumlord. :) Oh yea, 1 more thing........posts and postholes were invented in Vegas. |

I would love to come to a convention with you guys but it's all the wrong side of the pond and I don't even own a pass port . Sorry Nigel |

I am guilty of using face book more, the politics, politics and politics became a bit to much for me after the last election also sometimes felt like I was not really part of it all (my feelings ) I still peek in now and then but feel out of the loop of it all a bit.
I wil not be making the convention, not enough holidays or cash. My 13 year old daughter is going to vist Atlanta in October and is so excited at the prospect of spending a day in a real American school. My eldest daughter got married last week and I am going back to St Lucia when my youngest is visting your fair shores. Thats all I have to say on that Oh yes my Hubby has the sulks today but life is still good |
Title: Re: Jest wonderin Post by QnHeartMM on Jun 13th, 2010 at 4:40pm
I think the appeal of facebook to me is the interaction with my family, extended familiy and friends. It's easy to post to, read the news feed of the day without clicking on this thread in this section and that thread in that... I get emails of the replies. Easier to post pictures to - don't have to upload them somewhere else and then copy links here.
I come to CH for information and to interact with CH friends. Would not want to limit myself to just CH, but also have alot of CH friends that have friended me on FB. It's a balance I guess. I seldom get involved in the political discussions. In my almost 50 years I have learned that I'm rarely going to change someone's mind, and someone else is probably not going to change mine. All that being said, this community is very important to me and I am always happy to see the pictures and hear of the good times with people here, and grieve with them in the bad times. |

One thing I've noticed since I came here in 2004, is that the site slows down over the summer months. More people are out and about, and not tied to their computers due to the cold and snow.
Picks back up again just a few weeks before convention, then slows down again till fall when people anticipate the next cycle, and newbies come here for the first time. Been this same pattern for 6 years, with far better control over the Ali type trolls than ever before. Have to say it did feel good to pull out the ole' "troll poking stick" for Mr. Stand on your head man. ;) |

Title: Re: Jest wonderin Post by MITYRARE on Jun 16th, 2010 at 10:20am
I rarely look at this section anymore because of the politics...do not get me wrong, I love Canadian politics, but I don't get alot of what you are dealing with politics wise south of our border so my attention goes elsewhere.
Also the politics posts can gobble a lot of time just sifting through. However, I really love the personal posts and the things that interest each of you in your daily lives, photography, cycling, art, music etc etc etc....and I miss catching those posts. I occassionally glance through the general post section to see who has posted and then decide based on who started the thread, whether I will open it or not....kind of how I found this one today. As a suggestion, how about a Politics or Politics and Religion section with a disclaimer that the posts may be offensive to some and "use at own risk"....all the while keeping "General" for our life stories, hobbies etc. My 2 cents. Paul |
