Title: a memorable "flip off"...
Post by jon019 on Jun 19th, 2010 at 12:10am
Have ya ever been given the bird with such precision, expertise, and ingenuity that ya just HAD to appreciate it? I have.....

A few months ago, driving home from work...needed to exit to the right to get to the grocery store. Thought I gave the semi and trailer enough space as I pulled in front...still do...but maybe NOT!

Halfway through the exit, as it curved away from the highway, I heard an airhorn. Glanced to my left and saw a large hand, with an unmistakeable extended finger framed in the lower door window many trucks have. No shaking for emphasis...I don't even think he was pissed...just expressing an opinion.

Now, the art was in the timing. There was a 1 second window where horn, finger, and my position coincided...so I would see the finger. A second before...a second after...and I wouldn't be telling this story. I laughed the whole way home.

A professional "delivery" man(thinking of you Johnny)...if I knew who he was... I'd buy him lunch! ;D

Best,

Jon

dude ive been givin the bird in more ways than you could imagine. lmao.

i try to do what's safe tho. some times it pisses them off. worst one ever was in times square NYC. i was about 20 years old and i had a job to do in a red lobster out in queens. we were driving an e 350 box van.  when my buddy and i hit those big city lights we where just stupefied man.  we got lost and went up one side of Manhattan then down the other. somehow i cut these 2 guys off and they cut me off right there where the coca-cola sign lights up and comes back down. one dude gets out of the car and charges the van. judging from his choice of words id say he was pretty upset. still to this day i dunno what i did to piss those guys off.

one time i was bringing a load of bricks out from lake elsinore CA back to some tiny brick place in a really old part of detroit and you had to untarp and unload right there on the street and one lane was block by orange barrels. in a nutshell these barrels routed me way out of the way to get turned around. i was at this light pulled up behind a pick up half way pulled out of this parking lot. the light turned, the in the pick up gets going and some lady behind him cuts out in front of me to turn back left. i slam on the brakes and stopped with me grill even with her drivers side window. she could see around my hood so she had to sit though the with me laying on the horn. im usually pretty reserved as far as blowing the horns. her cutting me off and holding me through the light was my boiling point.

i got a million of 'em jon lol

I appreciate them when they emerge through a sun roof.

30 years in law enforcement....I've been on the receiveing end of some classic birds. The best was by a woman who combined it with calling me a bastard in the politest possible temrs:

"If your parents should ever decide to marry, please send me an invitation."  ;D

"If your parents should ever decide to marry, please send me an invitation."  Now that's priceless. :)

Happened about twelve years ago and still a vivid memorable one.

Back then I'd car pool with my brother a few days a week and the trip back home was through a small town that had a funny intersection.  Several times I mentioned to him that the way he was straddling the road there was f'ing up traffic behind him, but he always blew it off, his way was selfishly expedient.

Once again, it was the little rush hour after work and as he did it again I mentioned it.  Just then a nice, older, yellow 'vette purposely gets around in front of his car.  The light turns green and we can't move yet.  The driver turns around, leans back between his bucket seats and through the long slanted back window gives out a big finger and held it for a few seconds, then just turned around and proceeded through the light.  It was great!

I didn't have to say anything anymore, one picture's worth a thousand words.   ;)
