I always wanted to see one until two years ago when I found a cow about that size in the middle of the road.  I got stopped barely in time, and she didn't even move.  I ddin't realize how big they are until I was sitting there looking up at her belly from my truck.

Nice pic though.

Neet!

Looks like they're arguing which way to go. "If you'd only used Mapquest, we'd probably be there by now."

Cool as heck.   8-)  Looks like a cow and a biggish calf.

Idiosyncratic animals, mooses.  I tend to give them a lot of space, since I'm never sure what they're going to do.

There was a big bull who used to hang around the Big Creek Lodge up on the western edge of the Frank Church Wilderness (before it burned down one spring) who took exception to a pole fence there.  Every day, they'd put the pole fence back up, and every evening, the bull would come back to the lodge to tear the fence down again, nevermind that it was a small fence, and didn't impede the bull's movements in any way.

Went on for a long time.  I don't know why one or the other party didn't just give up on the whole thing.

Best,

George

Wise, too.  Alaska's most hazardous people encounter, dem bulls are moody huge.

Nice pic, strollin' casual-like, comfortable in their surroundings, the kid's even big.  Dense cover.

I like Ontario, our vast, surrounding neighbor still full of true wild up there.

Wow. I've seen moose tracks near our summer cottage years ago, but since that I've only seen them near the road and at Helsinki Zoo.

My dad used to hunt moose when he was still with us, so I know that plenty of these animals do hang  around the woods which surround our summer cottage, but still, it would be cool to actually see them that close.

The only animal that looks like it was put together by a committee.
