A few weeks ago I noticed an inflamed vein ( i think ) or maybe a nerve; but I tend to lean toward vein on my left eyelid.  It usually swells up and turns red and feels like a lump just before i get a hit.  Most of my hits are on the right side but can occasionally come on the left side or sometimes will hit on the right side but will have lesser pain in the left eye as well.  Has anyone experienced or heard of anything like this?  I see my neuro next week and am keeping a diary of sorts so I dont forget to ask about it.  I get hit so often throughout the week that I forget and get a bit confused at times.  Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome ... you are all great at that!!   ;)

Usually CHs occur on only side and the same side. I have often wondered at the amount of punishment my eye seems to take with so little visual evidence after the attack. I have no idea what might be going on with your left eye but talking to the neuro is definitely a step in the right direction. God bless! lance

No swelling vein I've ever noticed but the eyelid on my CH side twitches. This occurs on or off cycle, but only on the CH side. Like Wimsey, I often wonder about the damage I've done driving my knuckles into my eye and side of my head over the years. Definitely worth a diary entry so the neuro hears about it.

No vein swelling in my eye or eyelid but on my nose on the side of the CH my son noticed that sometimes when I have a CH hit the vein in my nose is enlarged and pumping rather fast.

I have had swelling of my eyelid and at times my eyeball itself looks like it's being pushed out farther, when the later happens I'm usually dealing with a kip scale tipper.

I've never had anything like that happen, but I'm only 7 years in.

I guess if you think about it, it would make sense - I mean, these ha are considered to be secondary to blood vessel dilation and certainly I would think that could generalize to your eye...  Just thinking here...

At one point two years ago I was concerned enough about the eye popping, swelling, banging, and BP elevation that I did bring it up to my neuro. She ran a test on my veins to determine their wall strength, looking I suppose, for potential stroke areas. Found nothing, thank God. Still, it does make one wonder....lance

Most of my chs are on the right side with an occassional one on the left.  My right eye does swell or seem to be enlarged during a hit and during a hit pain will sometimes enter the left eye as well.  The vein enlargement usually shows up in left eye just prior to a hit even if it only affects the right side.
