Title: Oxygen question
Post by MattyAA on Jun 22nd, 2010 at 8:41am
I was wondering if anyone could fill me in with how much O2 costs in USA just so I can compare if my own country tries to rip me off.

Just for instance Linde Gas in here offers me E-tank rent per month withouth air flow regulator for 20 PLN which is 5$ more or less and oxygen refill costs 114 PLN which is 28.5$.

It is medical oxygen and they want me to have prescription from doctor aswell as they say max 15 litres although I am guessing if i buy my own regulator it can go up to 50-60.

In USA I read that you guys buy often from Welders but is it also medical oxygen and how much for it? I am guessing there isnt one in Poland where I live.

So far I borrowed some o2 from coal mine that friend works in from the medi-point, but I don't want to bother him too much especially it is hard to explain why for he gets that o2, so I try to obtain my own set while I get relief meanwhile from borrowed setup.

Depends on the kind of insurance you have, if you have insurance. My previous policy charged $10/month as a prescription regardless of how many tanks I went through. My current policy decided this comes under "durable medical equipment" and not prescriptions, so I'm charged $40/month, again irrespective of how often I have the tanks filled.

I think in Poland medical care isnt insurance oriented we have this national medical fund but it sucks big time, and doesn't cover oxygen, in Poland you don't even have imitrex injects covered, you pay full 100 bucks or whatever it costs :/

When I was paying out of pocket it was $4.25 a month to rent each E-Tank. then $11-$14 each time I took it in for a refill. I bought my own regulator off E-Bay.

My insurance co was charged $90 for my m tank which was covered. I have my own mask and just ordered a better reg. I have not yet recieved a bill for tank rental but was told it would be $67.98. I get medical grade O2 from Apria Healthcare.

Matt, I'm not sure about the med. o2. But for welding o2, The rental on an M tank is $50. a year and $13 to refill.
Not sure about the E tanks, cause I fill my own at home from the M tank, which I own.

You could save yourself some money by buying your own E tanks off ebay. There is a store there that sells them with an in date hydro test, and a new valve for 19.99  FREE SHIPPING.  I bought two of them. Not sure if that ships around the globe tho.  The company is GTS.WELCO.  I found them by searching for "oxygen cylinder"

Thanks everyone for answers, yeah I guess it is problem since I don't live in USA and I have hard time searching for some reliable and not too expensive med O2.

So far there are two major companies in Poland offering o2 refills Linde Gas and Air Products but both charge 28-30$ per refill which is quite a lot on 10litres tank, not sure what size it is, but it is 1 metre tall 150 atmospheres pressure so that gives 10 litres x 150? which is 1500 litres in that o2 tank I think.

I also have hard time busting my headaches I use START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

I linked english type site because the one I order from is located in Poland and only described in Polish.

Anyway it is suppose to contain Morning Glory, I bought these because no shaman shop in here sells seeds only 'extracts' or capsules. RC and HBWR are banned to even posses here I think : / shrooms and lsd are aswell.

I was wondering to purchase the shroom spores in syringe but I am scared it will be checked in customs despite it would be sent from Holland who belongs to European Union and still checked in Polish customs which also belongs to European Union, I could prolly go to holland but I dont have cash for trip right now since borders dont exist in EU anymore so I could drive home with product bought in Holland, I am guessing with car its around 1-2days of driving.

I also forgot to mention that I took for the 4th time dose of these druids fantasy all doses were 7 days apart I only use red bulls and O2, strictly following instructions of others and it seems I get same ammount of headaches still, today was worst 2nd day after dosing and  i got 4 headaches... O2 at 30lpm and I have O2ptimask barely put dent in these headaches, I started on the onset of headache and I sat on it for 15 minutes, couldnt kill them only reduce from kip7-8 to 4-6 which was more tolerable.

Also I wonder if i could take trial in BOL in germany if I was still in cycle, Polish medicare sucks so much, I was reffereed to one of best from what I read on sites and heard from other doctors neuro who works in military and he said O2 is fake for CH and I should use verapamil and lithium and imitres not O2... and in the end cut my nerve and I asked him about ONs and he said its some western weird method and they dont use it in Poland  >:(

So I told him they do it in germany italy uk usa and so on and he said I can go move to other country if I want to get it, because he said noone in here even prescribes o2 for any head pain neither does ons, only verapamil lithium and cutting nerve or burning it in the end

Sorry for ranting but this pain and ignorance of some people makes me feel so miserable that I feel badly depressed and angry
:(

looks like you'll have to get commercial(welding) o2 huh?

I'm sure there are lots of welders in Poland. ;)

If push comes to shove, you can always say you're using it to raise fish, or keep minnows alive longer for bait. Or that a friend is teaching you how to weld, but you won't need a tank of acetylene because he said all you needed to get was a tank of O2. Be creative.

The average home care oxygen cost delivered is $30 for an M-size (3995 liter) oxygen cylinder and $20 for an E-size cylider (708 liters).  Medicare/Medicaid covers roughly $200 a month for total home oxygen therapy expense and as the largest payer here in the US, they set the market cost.  This cost also includes regulator and mask so the actual oxygen content cost will be less.

These costs can vary due to some screwed up legislation mandating competitive bidding for oxygen content costs under Medicare and Medicaid.  This has driven many of the smaller local Mom & Pop Home Care companies out of business meaning the big companies frequently need to drive greater distances to deliver oxygen cylinders to the home.  Although the oxygen cost may be lower from these larger companies, they are allowed to collect higher fees to cover delivery expense.

Most folks find that cash pickup at an oxygen fill facility is the least expensive.

As others have pointed out, Welder's O2 is slightly cheaper but some European countries have even more stringent laws regarding use of welder's O2.

I usually get my oxygen cylinders from Linde or Pangas when I'm on travel in Germany or Switzerland and AGA when I'm in Norway.

As far as BOL is concerned, Dr. Halpern is working on a Phase II study of BOL but I don't have any current details or dates.  I suspect coming up with the required funding for this study is the long pole in the tent at this point.

Hope this helps.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Thank you all for answers, I will try to look around.

Though welder oxygen not sure about one in Europe, I thought it contains some other things in and isn't for human use. Will research and see what I can get, indeed welders o2 is cheaper somehow and I guess doesnt need recipe from doctor.

Inthe USA the oxygen in welding tanks....and the oxygen in medical tanks.....literally comes out of the same BIG tank. The difference:

Medical oxygen tanks are completely vacuumed out before they are refilled....and have stricter visual interior inspections then the welding tanks do.

How, exactly, do they accomplish that? Not trying to be a smarty-pants - just can't visualize it.

High pressure cylinders that are used multiple times—as most are—can be hydrostatically or ultrasonically tested and visually examined every few years. In the U.S., hydrostatic/ultrasonic testing is required either every five years or every ten years, depending on cylinder and its service. From Wikypedia...couldn't find the exact stats on 02 tanks. But they pull the top off!
