Title: Blame it on the weather Post by donna mae on Jul 16th, 2010 at 11:12pm
Hi guys,
I've had a good stretch of about 2 weeks until this week. We've had some bad weather here. Noticed a change in my head pain earlier this week on Tue.... it was raining buckets. Today I've had head pain / burn all day and really ramped up tonight ....we've got thunderstorms coming through right now. Tried to sleep but no luck. Sinus just fills up and eye starts tearing like crazy. Nearly 8 months with this cycle now and no signs of it letting go anytime soon. Doesn't make much sense to me that the weather can have this much affect on my head but it does. Hoping and praying we can all have PF days and PF nights really, really soon! Donna Mae :( |

Hello Donna
The weather effect seems quite common among ch sufferers and it's reckoned that changes in barometric pressure are what causes this althoe as you have thunder storms changes in electrical potential in the air could also have an effect , but as usual no research has been don on this ,that I'm aware of any way. Hope the beast cuts you a brake soon Nigel |

Ever hear of Divers getting the bends? It is related to changes in pressure to quickly a change as in the Bends can kill a person. Air pressure changes with coming storms or leaving storms for that matter have affected my family for generations. You are not alone! When you have an air pressure headache it often helps to relieve some of the pain if you put a HOT moist cloth on the back (base) of your skull. You may need to keep reheating the cloth for a bit or toss it and hop in a hot shower keeping the water hitting the base of your skull. :) <Edited to add quote from an article> Quote:

Hi Guys,
Thanks for responding. I guess I didn't realize how much temp changes and barometric pressure can affect us. I really appreciate all the great info. Jay, I am currently taking 280mg verapamil, 20mg nortriptyline, 15 mg melatonin at bedtime and O2. I have a reg that goes up to 60lpm. Haven't had to use my O2 for the last 2 weeks, been maintaining on meds, coffee and redbull. I do have to be careful with too much caffeine as it prevents sleep which is already a problem even after 15mg Melatonin. Been feeling pretty darn good actually until this weather hit here this week. Yesterday was not a good day and today not so good either. Feeling head pressure and burn for much of the day so far. Still struggling a little with the hyperventilating and O2. It's not as easy I thought. I just need to practise more like Pete said. I'll figure this out eventually. I appreciate all your advice and well wishes. I am OK! Just so darned depressing to be getting ramped up hits again after having a couple good weeks. You know. And for it to be caused by the weather! Dang! Guess I will need to pay closer attention to the weather forcast in the future. Wishing and praying for PF days & nights for all of us! Donna Mae :) |

Weather the last 2 weeks was hot and humid, typical summer days for us here. Temp range was 85 - 98 degrees. Some storm warnings but nothing came close to us.
This week and last, hazy, hot & humid with severe storm warnings everyday. Most have been directly in my area and all around us. More of the same in the forecast for the rest of the week. I've had a significant increase in head pressure and head burn along with eye droop, tearing and nasal congestion. Can't find anything else to blame it on! :) :-/ Donna Mae |
