Title: Thin Skin, anyone? Post by wimsey1 on Jul 22nd, 2010 at 7:40am
OK, so maybe this is dumb, but I gotta ask. Has anyone noticed that they have a problem with skin that bruises too easily, or cuts that won't stop bleedin'? I do. And I was just wondering if all of the drugs over the years may have had such an effect. The one I have been on the longest (verapamil) seems to be the constant, although prednisone has been in the mix off and on for 3 years. Course, could just be I'm way too old. Any thoughts, anyone? lance

I have but I blame it on getting old and being on a daily asprin routine. Only noticed it the past couple of years and it's been 5 years since my last cluster cycle.

I've been known to cry when Brew picks on me. :P

I agree with Bob. The older I get, the easier I bruise and I don't even know how I got it (and I'm 4 years pain free). I just wake up in the morning with a new bruise. Hmmmm....wonder if Tarey has anything to do with that? :-? Sandy |

Same here and I've been med free for over a year I think. If I scratch my arms or hands to hard they bruise up. Thought it was from pred. because this started happening while on pred.

Joe: ;D ;D
Lance: Yes, I have noticed easier bruising over the last few years, not sure if it's age related though. I sometimes bleed like a stuck pig after a shot or cut, but can usually stop it quickly. |

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, maybe getting old is doing it but the kind of purpling and bleeding I get usually isn't seen for another 10 years or so. I think. And Bob, I forgot the apsrin a day thing. That is a blood thinner and I am doing that, too. It's just a real pain.
Wondering if anyone out there below the speed limit in age who is also on pred, or verapamil has noticed the same thing? Or any other med and noticed this? Otherwise, it's just another complaint for me to swap with my friends at the barbershop here in Mayberry. Blessings! lance |

I've noticed just the opposite with me, for some reason. I bruised relatively easily in my yute, but not so much as I age. I smacked myself a good one right in the shin a few months ago (almost dropped me to my knees), and hardly a mark.
