Title: off cycle baby CH's anyone?
Post by PlayDoh on Jul 24th, 2010 at 8:54pm
Hey everyone.
I had a 3 week cycle around 3 weeks ago, which interestingly ended right after I was given Metoprolol (beta-blocker) for something unrelated. I haven't had a real CH since then, but I've been getting almost daily, if not a couple a day, of weak CH's. I don't even feel right calling them the same thing, since their a walk in the park in comparison.

However, I'm wondering if the Metoprolol put the lid on my CH's and I"m still in cycle, or if these are just part of my dying cycle? Alcohol brought on a baby CH for me the other week also.

Anyone else get weak CH's, while not getting real ones? I call them baby CH's cause their exactly like real ones, but a lot weaker. Its almost like a "shadow H/A"

I've been taking Tylenol when they get distracting enough, yet I'm not sure if they would have gone away on their own. I've felt enough pain that I don't feel like experimenting much. lol.

This is about my tenth year with CH, and first with O2.

I have that off and on before and after a cycle.  It's hard to say what it is going to do since you started a new med.  I hope it is stopping it rather than it fighting it's way back.  They can be surprising little things, can't they?

Good luck!

Oh, and don't drink right now!!!  I wait a month after my cycle is completely over!

Playdoh, my three week cycle ended two weeks ago and after about one week of PF I started getting what I call shadows in the morning and evening. Not enough to hit the O2 but enough for a Red Bull or Tylenol. I'm only on Verapamil now after my Pred taper ended mid cycle. I've been wondering if its just a post cycle wind down or, if it the Verap is keeping it under control, or the Beast is just taking a little rest and going to hit me again any day. But its just enough to make me stay away from all the potential triggers and keep my O2 and other weapons at the ready just in case. Jay from Baltimore.

PlayDoh,

Baby CHs are still headaches.  Are they occurring during periods of inactivity like sleep or vegging out?  How frequently were you using oxygen inhalation therapy and at what flow rate?  How long do your baby CHs last and do they go away when you get up and walk around?  Just curious.

Take care,

V/R, Batch

Yeah, I get them, too, and I also wonder what they are. My best advice is to stay vigilant, keep the abortives on hand, don't mess with what's workin' and for goodness sake, don't wake the beast! Oh, and use O2 on them, even an energy drink if they don't abort quickly. lance

PlayDoh,

I had these baby headaches for the past three weeks right after my usual 2 week cycle.  So, my situation is almost identical to yours.  I thought I was having bad sinus headaches because I get those too and they feel identical to shadows (baby CH).  The only problem is starting this past Saturday night, the beast reappeared and I have never had a cycle like this before.  I did 50 rc seeds last night and slept through the night like a baby, but go hit pretty good about  an hour and half ago here at work.  I went to my car twice to knock it out with O2 followed by a strong cup of coffee.  This is common with seeds though the day after consumption.  This year has been weird, but I never give up with the seeds as long as my O2 is handy.  Oxygen is the only thing that can keep me detoxed from the other abortives and prevents in order for the alternative therapies to work.  My second and third dose of seeds should calm that motherf-er.  Sorry for the off-track babble.

I think I answered your question in the beginning of my post.

Cheers,
Chad

Thanks for the replies everyone. Its comforting to know your not alone.

I woke up around 6 AM with a Kip 4, but managed to get back to sleep. I woke up an hour later with a Kip 6, and knocked it out with O2.

First time I've used O2 in a couple weeks. I was using it almost daily to 3-4 times a day, almost a month ago now (last cycle).

I took a Tylenol quick release, and a Migraine strength when I first woke up, so the fact I got hit and hour later confirms to me that these are real CH's. Tylenol or Advil is useless. (ten years and its still hard to accept. lol)

I'm going to actually buy my own 1-25 LMP O2 regulator, since I live with my Aunt who has O2 for COPD (lungs). I can use her bottles, and I've been using her portable regulator & bottles.

Its the type that only dispenses when you breath in, and only goes up to 6 LMP, BUT it has a "test" button that will blast out the O2 at probably 15 LMP as long as you hold the button. Hey, it works.  8-)

I've been trying to get some magic mushrooms, but its not as easy as it used to be. lol.  :D

I get all kinds of goofy headaches all the time, I think some may be CPH as they hit hard and fast then are gone in a flash.  And sometimes I get a dull nagging pain that lasts a long time, but not nearly as bad as CH.  I think that is part of the problem in getting a good diagnosis, I think a lot of CH people have multiple headache problems which makes diagnosing them a little tricky.  I take excedrin for the nagging ones, and just leave the quick hitters alone.
