Nothing earth shattering......washing machine blew a seal yesterday afternoon and it started raining in the basement just outside my office door. Estimate over 200 to fix a 10 plus year old machine. Spend time drying out everything..... Visit Home Depot last night and buy a new one....to be delivered Wednesday. Wake up this morning...no hot water. Attempt to repair said hot water heater. Attempts fail due to the damn thing is worn out. Call plumber friend to install a new one tomorrow. Much more of this and I'm in the hole for the week before it starts. :-/
Beeyul.....who is waiting for the 3rd thing..... :o |

Be sure to change the hoses when you install the new washing machine. That could be the third thing. Speaking from experience here... :P Best, George |

Aw sweetie, that's a bummer. We had about 6 weeks of things like that. The water heater died and flooded my studio, we had 7 inches of rain in two days the week after we had 5 inches of rain in one day, and once we got the basement all cleaned up and livable again, the drain hose for the furnace clogged and we had more water down there . . . . . I'm pretty sick of this shit! Maybe both shoes have dropped for you, rather than that dreaded "they come in threes" thing. . . . :-? |

That's been our luck lately too. When I traveled in June my oven broke. When I traveled in July my garbage disposal broke. I've been eying that hot water heater and suggesting to my dear husband that we replace it before it blows. Cause when it does, it'll back up right into my office. Hate spending money on something that isn't broke....but.....it'll be a bigger mess if we wait!

I've noticed those kinda weeks are like bananas, they come in bunches.
Also, sometimes they tend to overlap. |

If it's over 10 years old, don't take the chance. It'll never die at a convenient time and it's so worth the peace of mind (she says knowingly after her water heater flood) |

ohh noooo!!! Do not let the water problems start, they will never stop!! Mine didn't stop after 3, they keep coming one after the other. :o Look at it as money well spent on the new washer and water heater.
My TV stopped this weekend. Blank screen with a no signal message. After spending a couple hours messing with it, I gave up. Tech will be out Thursday afternoon. Kids aren't happy.... On another note, it is not a good idea to get distracted for even a second while using a vegtable slicer. My thumb is going to spend the month of August healing. Do chucks of skin grow back or will I be missing that part forever?? Sorry to hear your weekend was sucky. Hope if there is a third thing to happen, it is something good! |

I know what you are talking about Bill. Last month had to replace my water heater thankfully my father-in-law knows how to solder. Then next week replace upstairs bathroom faucet and when went to turn on basement main shut off valve it started leaking. Was on weekend would cost $150.00 to shut off water valve in the front yard but lucky the guy showed up and got the basement valve to just dribble til they could come monday to shut off water BUT that shut off was too close to sidewalk and almost 6 feet deep so Tueday they came and frooze the copper pipe coming up from basement floor to valve and replaced it so it didnt cost me any thing cause I have water line protection on my bill. I think NZ is just a bit more than 100 miles away. We've just had blocked drains. They were caused by tree roots, so some trees need removing (don't want them blowing down onto the house though!) And my car battery failed too. Hopefully that's our three done for now. |

mike the the plugged toilet turn into a replacement of the whole leach field. the leach field was about 300 feet of 2 foot concrete pipes linked together since 1952. after the leach field went in they thought it would be nice to have a apple orchard out there. so you can imagine the roots. it was a big poopy mess. the top of the wall on the septic tank was eroded down about a foot by 3 feet wide. i emptied it out with a sump pump, chipped away the soft cement, acid scrubbed it, then formed it off and replaced the concrete. then i ran an electric eal back to the house to cut out all the roots. talk about opening up a can of worms. i had to get it done tho. nothing in this house had been updated for at least 40 years if not ever so when something gets fixed i gotta fix everything connected to it as well. im getting ahaed tho :) |
