Does anyone know if any research has been done into organic causes of Ch. Things such as vitamin or mineral deficiencies or dehydration etc???. If so where I can find it.

Research on serotonin:
My son is soon to be entering his senior year in college and for the past year has been doing research with one of his professors on serotonin.  Their end result will hopefully be of help to many migraine and CH sufferers.  We are all hoping they will have a publishable result before the end of 2011.

Batch has posted some interesting info about PH levels. Started getting my arse kicked by a high cycle a couple months ago and even 02 stopped working....(scared the sh#@ outta me!) Batch suggested the following:

Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D washed down with Lemon Juice a couple times a day. Ratched my cycle back down to a manageable level again.

Folks, be careful! As soon as you use "cause" in science you are getting into a mine field. Just a quick example that we all understand:

We accept alcohol as a trigger for an attack when we are in an active period. That does not mean alcohol is the "cause" of cluster.

Probably the closest we are to organic causes is the involvement of the hypothalamus--but even here we don't know WHY this part of our brain APPEARS to be causal.

I’m a firm believer in the theory of vitamin or mineral deficiencies, since I ventured on the Magnesium/Calcium trail along with a slight diet change to include more oily fish to my intake I have had a pretty comfy ride especially over the last 2 years.

I am currently 743 days without a high cycle although I still shadow daily & still have to deal with the restless leg syndrome & insomnia I’m one happy little black duck.

Below is my diary since starting.
2/10/2006 Low cycle started
20/06/2007 Low cycle ended
261 Days since last hit

20/6/2007 High cycle started again
9/08/2007 High cycle ended
50 Days getting hit

9/08/2007 Low cycle started
1/06/2008 Low cycle ended
297 Days since last hit

1/06/2008 High cycle started again
24/07/2008 High cycle ended
53 Days getting hit

24/07/2008 Low cycle started
6/08/2010 Today's date
743 Days since last hit = 2 years & 12 days
