Title: Are Ch affected by FLYING
Post by Darkmessiah on Aug 15th, 2010 at 6:57am
Hi Guys & Gals

I'm going to be flying to Canada from South Africa within the next month and would like to know if these CH's are affected by flying and if we are allowed to take Imigran (Sumatrinptan 6mg) Self injecting onto the plane?

If any of you people know these answers it would help big time

Thanks  ;)

In the states I have not had problems traveling with my injectors. I use the auto injector, not sure if syringes would be treated any differently. If you use the syringes I'd make a call to your carrier and check policies before you traveled.

This topic has been talked about at length with no clear concensus. Some people get hit when they fly, some do not. I've always packed my trex with me when I fly while on cycle, but have never been hit while flying.

There has also been some discussion on using the longer acting, oral triptans before you take off, might be worth exploring. Good luck and enjoy your trip!

Listen to Guiseppi.  He know's the drill.  I'm one of those that get nailed when flying.  It's hits me a half hour after landing.

What I do is take Frovatriptan.  It's a long acting triptan that can buy you a full day's break from the beast.  It has a 3 hour onset of action so you need to take it 3 hours before your expected hit.  This is easy for me because I know when to expect it.

My advice for now would be to take along your Imitrex.  After a few flights you'll figure out if it going to affect you and how.  Then you can plan accordingly.  Unfortunately those first few flights are experiments.

Good luck...
