Title: Interesting thing said to me today Post by teajay on Aug 27th, 2010 at 5:45pm
I was getting my E tank refill today and one of the ladys at the health center said that the 5 or so cluster people that go to that place for oxygen tend to come in around the same time. She said she believes that whatever triggers us must be the same. I don't personally know any of the other people that go to that place for O2 but I thought it was interesting that we all start our cycle around the same time.

You mean around the time when the length of day and night become the same? ;)

it's been long thought that the change of seasons, especially Spring and Fall are the times when folks go into cycle or for those who are chronic...High cycle. Circadiem rythum and all that.
I know that Family services gets a LOT more calls for help in the Spring and Fall and then slacks off over the winter and Summer. The Hypothalmus is said to react to the seasons, so it;'s not so weird at all. days getting shorter or days getting longer tend to throw it into high gear. |

I usually get hit in October, so I was completely unprepared to be in cycle now. Had O2 delivered the other day and the driver told my husband that out of the 6 deliveries he had that day, 3 were for CH - the others had also indicated to him that they were cycling earlier than usual. I wish we understood this condition more. I have a really hard time explaining it to people.

And I thought I was the only one who was chronic and had more intense times during spring and fall. In the time I've been coming here I'd never before seen this mentioned! THANK YOU! |

Wow I thought Chronics didn't have high cycles or lowers, I mean I thought they just do have headaches and random breaks to only 1 or 2 HA per day.
I am myself only shadowing chronicaly, since I got slight shadows for 2 years now, but headaches every year or season. |

I've always been a Spring and Fall guy.....I think it's another reason it's so often mis diagnosed as allergies!!

It has been Fall and winter for me most often with an
occasional spring & summer here and there. I'm always the strange one in the group. |

Cycles are definitely tied to seasonal changes, and perhaps barometric pressure changes, too. For me though, summer has always been the high cycle. I think I react badly to the heat (Bob Johnson has posted something on this) and find relief when it's cold. That changed not too long ago, however. That's what makes the beast so frustrating...it morphs just to mess with us. I'm a fan of the scout motto: be prepared. Especially with CHs. lance

shadows started for me as far back as late June, but when the weather broke a couple weeks ago....wham, I started getting stomped. I almost jumped out of bedroom window last night.

My previous cycles had all begun mid-April, so I figured out I was in the clear for this year. Surprise! The beast found me in June. The only thing that stays the same is change. But a most interesting thread.

I'm a summer and winter kind of guy. Though this summer i havn't had them thank god. I know its sick but I almost wish I was in a cycle so I had more interesting posts, and plus i feel guilty for being pain free when so many of you are chronic. I wonder if the high stress thing is keeping them away. I won't even go into that. Oh yeah and Teajay please don't jump. Tomorrow is a new day! ;)

For the 1st 20 years I got hit every 8 to 9 months which means mine would start any time of the year.

Spring or Autumn for me, I have had one attack during the winter and that was during my first ever skiing trip. Maybe this was down to extreme exertion, altitude and to much apres ski :)

I was October to February last time. It was my first documented CH bout, but may have had some short ones prior (just thought it was a daily headache or due to my many concussions). I'm not looking forward to next month, as I already saw what the drastic change in temperature, the heat, and the sudden change from a sunny day to a rainy day can do.

As an episodic clusterhead, I know my cycles will always occur in springtime or fall.
I was expecting it this year in between halfway September and October, but somehow the Beast decided to have a go at me at around half of August, which is early for me. I suspect it has to do with the weird summer we had here in the Netherlands - heatwave after heatwave throughout June and July, and suddenly a huge turn into autumn weather. I am used to cycle from late September to early December normally. |

Hmm, seems living at the equator(12 hours day, 12 hours night year round) might have an effect for CH sufferers. Any ClusterHeads living on the equator? |

Hmm...interesting.
My BF is typically a summer sufferer. We had a pretty rainy summer where we live this year. But he got some bad ones when we went on vacation to some hotter weather, and when we came home to similar weather, they coninued. Maybe the heat helps to trigger them somehow. |
