I'd have no touble going up the lift and climbing the part inside the tower, but once outside and free climbing, well, I wasn't too comfortable to watch it from then on, especially at the points where the person transitioned from one "ladder" to another.
However I've done a parachute jump before (non-tandem), so the height part didn't bother me, more the risk of one slip, no matter how minor being fatal. If I was to do it, I'd want a calm day with no winds too. I also expect that going up is a lot easier than going down, especially when you've been working a while and you are tired. |

I'm afraid of heights, so nothing could make me do that.

I get all queasy just standing on my toes :o, so I would have to be basically unconscious and placed there for that to happen!!!
Hate heights!!! :P |

Ain't no way in hell that I'd be up there. It took me forever just to get to be able to sit in my deer stand without having a panic attack (and it was only 12 feet off the ground).

Ah Engineers who work in broadcasting are a special breed and more often than not just a bit CRAZY! I've known and worked with a few and some have had 'near misses' with falling off towers in high winds. The worst time to have to climb a tower (stated by a friend of mine) is in winter, snow, ice and wind are not conducive to tower climbing and he as refused to do so in those conditions. Hell just getting up the mountain to the tower in those conditions is a bitch can't imagine having to climb one.
As for what it would take for me to do it... More DRUGS than the human body can handle!!!! In other words it would only happen over my dead decomposing body! ;D |

Been watching it done for 30+ years... But ain't no way in Hello would I do it....
Working here at the television station... We have towers guys in several times a year.. to add/remove items to the tower in back of the station, as well as our transmitter tower... But neither is that tall... our tower in back of the station is only 200' and the transmitter tower is only 1335'.. but any thing past 3' is to high for me ;D ;D Yes, those guys are a special breed... |

I would do that in a heartbeat. Looks like quite the thrill for sure. I was an iron worker for some time. Height does not bother me at all, nor does falling. The sudden stop at the bottom however does. We always called it earth poisoning
If you could bring a 'chute with you, now that would be a hell of a jump. Thanks for the post. Awesome! |

What would it take????? All Gate's and Buffet's billions combined - throw in Branson's just for fun - and you MIGHT get me to step in the elevator while the power was OUT - as in outage like the 2003 NY outage.
Shoot, if you were to fill the globe with spiders and tell me that's the only way to get away from them, then this arachnophobe will be learning how to live with the creepy crawlies. In phobia vs. phobia, that one will lose every time! I'm starting to wonder what the universe is up to - I was watching funny cat videos on yahoo, and this video showed up; I come here, and see the same video posted in TWO different threads..... Iffin somethin out there wants me to find a 'stairway to heaven' then I'm afraid the devil is gonna have some company, cause there ain't no way, no how, this Cat is EVER climbing ANYTHING that even remotely resembles that video; I had a friggin anxiety attack WATCHING the damn thing!!! Ugh....I had a fit just climbing on my ladder in the living room to rescue a hummingbird from the skylight today! Those folks are twisted! I'm going to bed....of course I'll have nightmares....but at least I'll be having them at a nice comfortable height, securely surrounded by WALLS OY |
