As some of you know I've been sick with what started out as a cold for almost a month now, which went rogue on me and turned into a sinus infection with Eustachian tube dysfunction (ear tubes blowing bubbles).

I had to get an antibiotic refill from my doc today since I am almost done with the 1st dose of antibiotic and still not much better.  This is the worst Sinus infection EVER!!  Doc said "I'm not sure the second round of antibiotic will help."  I said, "Well if it doesn't I guess I'll be back in your office in about 12 days then."

God I hope it does help am on a repeat killer dose, not sure what/where things will go to if it doesn't help.  I don't even want to think about it.   :-/

Hope it gets better soon, Ginger. The sinuses are one of the worst areas of the entire body in terms of circulation and getting systemic meds to where they need to go.

I have heard all sorts of horror stories the past week at work, some of which have me just a bit TERRIFIED! One guy told me of an acquaintance of his who had to have his sinuses removed!!  God help me, NOT THIS CHICK, PLEASE!!!

If the second dose of the same antibiotic doesn't work there is a chance that the bug has some immunity to that antibiotic. It might be worth you trying a different one to get around the immunity issue.

I also can't imagine what it's like having a sinus infection when one nostril is running like mad with a bad CH.

I hadn't thought about a different antibiotic...will keep that in mind if second dose doesn't help.

CH still going strong...go figure.  Eye waters with CH, but sinuses and ears are apparently on vacation as far as functions go... :o

Praying.

Saline nasal spray.  It won't cure anything, but it'll help the inflammation of the sinuses.  When the bug is beaten into submission, keep using it for about a month. 

Mucinex, also.  It's helpful to thin those secretions to get them moving out of your system. 

I went through this about 3 years ago. I thought I got a cold every month for three months (until it turned into pneumonia).  Best of luck sweetie - these can be ugly.

Ouch.

I know where you are. It sucks but it will fade away. Mine hurt like hell and I took twice the dose of something like Tylenol before I could think straight.

Owww!  I do hope you are seeing an ENT.  I can deal with sinus problems, but I go batshit crazy when it involves my ears (came close to losing my hearing years ago).
