how is everyone? well ive had 1 cycle since i was here last and it sucked. then after years and years of denial i put myself in rehab in august of this year. WOW!! what an experience that was. in a good way. it seems a lot of my headaches have been aggrivated by my habitual use of hard core drugs. now i live in an oxford house and am doing everything i can to stay clean. but it is getting late and i must go to bed.

That's great news on both fronts Chris. I hope and pray it leads you to a "good" place. Wishng you peace and pain free days. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

thanks for the support and encouragement from everyone. this recovery thing is not easy, but i am here with recovering addict and my sponsor. ive moved to a different town and started a new life. only good can come of this. 20 years fucked up on drugs is no way to live. but when youre an addict in active addiction you cant see it, no matter how many people tell you. it took me losing the love of my life and almost dying from the heroin, coke, painkillers, xannx and alcohol (mostly at the same time) for me to see. i guess i wasnt ready before....im ready now. with my life turned over to God i can do anything like stay clean and live.

ive also quit smoking pot. never thought id  see the day. :)

Your previous life was no mystery.  Stay with it after Oxford House.  You don't have to, but get into service -- making coffee, setting up chairs and tables, putting them away afterwards, chair meetings, with enough clean time, volunteer for jail meetings, and man the 24-hour help line.  Always remember, if mobile or connected, it's possible to go to seven different meetings a day, AA or NA, 7am to midnight meetings.  I've done it and they're always there when you need them, you may just hear what you need to hear.  Even if some words are disheartening, well, some get clean but don't get better, keep going, there can be some rough times starting. 

It was a damn miracle, you'll find good things happening, and being there, you're helping others, too.    :)

i do my service work. ive got my home group, a sponsor and i chair meetings. i try to go to 7 a week. its a great feeling being clean. i just dont see how i lived my life fo all those years fucked up. well i wasnt living, i was existing. this is the best thing ive ever done for myself. im happy with my decision. ive got a killer support group and a very strong network here. its a good thing.

A point being, Chris, your stay at Oxford House will end but recovery doesn't, it will be up to you to continue the footwork.  Staying involved, multi-connected, and doing service work is heavy in reinforcing your own recovery.  Create it.

recovery is gonna be for the rest of my life and i know this. this is just the beginning. like i said before with my life turned over to God anything is possible. i have faith that this will work. they say if you put half the effort in the program as you did scoring and using dope, you should be ok.
