Title: Question.... Post by Jackie on Sep 28th, 2010 at 6:10pm
I have a friend who has clusters and migraines. She's looking for a good headache doctor who knows how to treat both.
We're in the midwest (northern Indiana) but she's willing to travel anywhere to see a good doctor who can help.... Any suggestions? Thanks, Jackie |

I have a good GP that diagnosed my CH in GR. That's the best I can do.

Dr. Kenneth Moore in Chicago is very good. He used to be with Methodist Hospital (teaching hospital) in Jackson MS. Jimbo used him for clusters and I used him for migraines. He's a good doctor and a good man. He actually got into the field of headaches because he suffers from migraines.

I'm sorry, but my Neuro took over a sleep clinic and quit taking HA patients several years ago. Haven't been able to find another good one since. Have a good GP who will go along with whatever I think I need, so I quit looking for a Neuro about 4 years ago.

Jerry - doesn't your CHs result in sleep problems? So of course that neuro is just perfect... |

Jackie,
Wish I could help you, but (the best) my neuro is in Longview TX. If your friend wants to come to Longview - Richard Hamer is the best one I know of. He has migraines and is wonderful - keeps up with everything about headaches and has a BUNCH of CHers. My best to your friend.. :-* |

I don't know if your friend is on the eastern or western side of northern Indiana, but Cleveland Clinic would be well worth the trip. Their headache clinic has about 9 docs who specialize in CH (or so they claim). After about 5 docs, we finally found CC and Dr. Mark Stillman finally got it right. Downside = be prepared to have a wait to get an appt and ask to be put on the cancellation list if an appt opens up. Good Luck.

Mike,
You'd be right except I don't get REM hits, so I just don't sleep until I know I'm done for the night. Often it's into the morning, but Apnea isn't an issue for me. (that I know of ) Jerry |

Seester... I think that Dr. Davies at Carle Hospital/Clinic is just super.. Just like Callico, Dr. Davies also works in the Carle Sleep Clinic.. but he's one of the best Nero around...
I don't know if he's taking new patients or not.. but I have a 3pm appointment with him today and I can sure ask him. I see some posted a doc in Indianapolis, I sure that would be a lot closer... Thanks for the replies.
She's a nurse and my next door neighbor....small world....a cluster sufferer right here. I'm sure the migraine/cluster combination is tough! One is terrible enough but both! I know we have several here that suffer both.... We'll see how it goes....thanks again! |
