Joe, thar be arachnids below. (I saw on another thread that you prefer no surprises with 8 legs, or 800 as the case may be.)

Cute. Loves apples

Relatively benign. they're leaving me alone. Getting along with each other.

And then...A wolf spider with hundreds of babies on her back. No skinny dipping that day.

Great photos.

Another thing I love about New Zealand is that we've no snakes or poisonous spiders, so we're pretty safe here, although like elsewhere, we do have the beast who comes to visit.

Those are some pretty arachnids. I really like spiders. I used to own and breed tarantulas. I had 15 different tarantulas at one time, until my Therephosa blondi had babies. That was amazing to see.

My wife is extremely arachnophobic so I got rid of al of my pets in order to keep her. :D

BTW the Therephosa blondi is also known as the Goliath Bird Eater. The largest tarantula out there. Mine was named Tickles, and measured 11 inches. I miss them all. She had 18 spiderlings. But I could only save 8 of them. She got hungry I guess.
