Title: Family, my niece needs your Prayers...
Post by LadyLuv on Dec 3rd, 2010 at 9:52am
My Dear Niece Shanna (34yrs of age) has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer..  :-/

Shanna is the Granddaughter of my Sister Birt (who made her transition earlier this year to a higher ground [smiley=engel017.gif] .

Her Cancer is @ stage 2 and she will go under the surgical knife on December 13th...

Shanna is handling the situation very well after the initial shock. She continues to drive the City Bus every day, and we (she and I) have had a heart to heart talk....

With me being a 27yrs Breast Cancer Survivor, I think that I have been able to give her some hope and Strength....[smiley=hug.gif])

Please say a Prayer for my Dear Niece...

Peace & Blessings
LadyLuv

Dear Ruthie,
We've never met, but I've been caround this place for a very long time....and I am a cancer survivor, too. I didn't say anything on this forum, but I got soo much support from my friends on facebook.
My Mom was a 31 yr breast cancer at her death. She did not die of breast cancer, so, when I was DX with stage 2ABreast cancer, I was somehow comforted by the fact that my mom survived, and so would I.
I had a lumpectomy, lymph noded were removed as well. It was no0t a walk in the park, but certainly much easier than my mom's full mastectomy! When I recovered from surgery, my Oncologist introduced me to the Radiation Oncologist. I flat-out refused radiation-I'd seen the results of many after rad, so it was tough for these 2 drs to convince me. I finally accepted vtheir course of treatment, and, after 6 weeks of rad treatments, I am healing. I will go back for my 'all-clear'  next Friday, but both Drs are quite certain I will never again experience breast cancer.
If she's gotten it early, she can keep her breast, get treatment, not lose her hair, hurl or generally feel horrid for 6 months or so......it's soo much easier.
If it were as simple as a pill, we might not take it so seriously, so, I guess I am happy to have had the treatment I did.....most of all, as you know, Ruthie, it's a lot about your frame of mind... my dear mother helped me through this, as you will help your neice. I will be saying my prayers for her as well, and sharing my strength..........BUT- just for you, please know it's just not like about 27 yrs ago, when you went through a much more invasive course of treatment!
If she wishes to talk to someone, it's all pretty fresh in my memory, just pm me for my number.
Wishing you love and health-
Cathi :-*

Ruth...when the time is right I DO hope you ask your niece to take Cathi up on her offer to call her.

Not only has Cathi recently been through this horror but she is one of the nicest,  most wonderful women I have ever had the pleasure to meet and know.  Well, except for you Ruthie of course...you are both right up there on the radar screen of my friends  who are important.

Still praying.....

You guys are the greatest... I made a copy of your well wishes and Prayers and took them to Shanna.

I put her on the Prayer list at my Church.. with my CH family Praying and my Church family Praying for her, I know that God will make everyting okay..

Shanna is one of those young lady's that if I could
choose a daughter it would be one just like her. She is not only her grandmother's (my sister Birt)
oldest grandchild, but she was also her constant companion and friend.

She has two sons, with the oldest being 14 and the youngest being 6 (?)... Birt wish was that Shanna follow in her foot steps and become a beautician(?). Although she drive the MTD (Mass Transit); she also went to school and got her beautician(?) license. It hangs on the wall right next to Birts', in the Salon at the rear of the house (which Shanna and her 2 sons now live in). I cann't think of anything that Birt or I have ever asked her to do and she didn't do it without questions or hesitation.

I know that she will be okay, because God has some plans for her...

Thanks Family and may God continue to Bless and Protect each of you...

I will keep you informed...

It's 3:41am and you guessed it.. I've been up all night fighting the evil one...

Peace & Blessings
Ruthie

PS: Linda I will pm Cathi for her number after I speak with Shanna... (luv you much)

Angie and I support the fight against breast cancer and a couple of people we bike with put together this amazing calender with the help of some local women as models. This is the 2nd year for this calendar and all the proceeds go directly to our own hospital to help with this dreadful disease.

A HUGE  thank you to Barry and Angie for supporting cANCER RESEARCH! iT'S BECAUSE OF DONATIONS LIKE THIS, AND ORGANIZATIONS LIKE tHE sUSAN g kOMEN fOUNDATION that breast cancer is NOT a death sentence any more.
Not gonna tell you it's a day at Disneyland, but new treatments have drastically reduced the need for mastectomies, not to mention the need for chemotherapy. Ths is yeat another chance for me to say "EARLY DETECTION, REGULAR MAMMOGRAMS and  self exams will up the odds for success by quantum leaps!"
NOONE wants to hear that they have a life-threatening disease, but more are survivors than ever before!
Ruthie, Shanna, I send you love and prayers- and SUPPORT!

Dear Cathi.. your letter is such a heart felt comfort and I, Shanna and the rest of the family appreciate it very much.. We found out that there is also a young lady, Shanna's age, at her job that have been through it and is now back to work... Shanna have talked with her at length.

This Family (CH) and my Church Family have gotten me through sssssooooo many desperate and down hearten situations; and I thank and love you all very much...

Even things that I have not posted, I've bugged Jackie with...... Jackie have pulled me back from the edge of the cliff, ssssoooo many times..

Some times in life, it gets very lonely even with all the love I have around me.. So thanks so much to you and the rest of my CH Family for giving that same strong support to My Darlin' Niece...

Ruthie,

You will NEVER be unloved!  As long as I'm around you are loved, and when I'm gone God is still there.  Of course, you have the rest of the family here as well ;), plus your great church.  I was very impressed with their caring when we went to your Granddaughter's funeral.

You've been through many challenges in your life, and they have made you the compassionate caring individual you are.  You've also learned that God is always there for you and that is better medicine than anything the Dr can give.

We are praying for you and Shanna.

Love ya! (and LIKE ya!)

Jerry
