Title: SNOW
Post by Sandy_C on Dec 4th, 2010 at 2:30pm
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidaysl
Having been born and bread in northwestern Ohio, I know what snow is.  It was a bunch of inches on the ground and piles that looked like mountains shoveled next to the roads and driveways.  Snow meant Christmas was near.  The happiest time of the year.

Living now in NC, we rarely get snow.  I've been here since 1984, and cannot remember snow at Christmas.  Guess what - all of our local weather forecasters said we could get some flurries today but no accumulation.  They were wrong - I've got SNOW and it's accumulating - not a lot, but everything is now white.  This is not flurries - this is SNOW!

It probably won't be here for Christmas but it sure puts me in the Christmas spirit - so.....

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Sandy

A snowplow woke me up early this morning. Happy winter folks! START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

We have about 4 inches unlike the mess around Buffalo. Some areas up there got 40 inches of very soggy stuff. That band was very narrow. Northern areas of the city got just an inch or two, while a narrow band only a few miles wide south of the city got hit hard.

I had an email from my brother in Yorkshire, England who jumped off his train (he was driving it) and almost vanished into a five foot deep snow drift!

There are lots of people getting snowed in but there are some "unlucky" people who have been snowed in at a remote pub for nine nights.

There is no chance of snow here, it's only snowed once since weather records began in 1939.

As everyone in the northern hemisphere is "enjoying" the snow, remember that your politicians are working hard in Cancun CanCon saving the world from global warming. Well, those there that is after many couldn't get there due to airports closed by snow.

Thanks Mike. The Telegraph readers' pictures are worth it!

We saw some of the mess there on the news here too. What we also learned is that here, we get a fair idea of what to expect in our snow areas and have time to prepare for it. In Britain they have to rely on the Atlantic which can be pretty iffy.

More snow every day for the next week in my area.

We  got 4 inches my parents who live two hours west of us got 7 inches.  I was glad it wasnt more to drive in from our house to theirs today.  Had to go and burry my dog.  I was glad my dad dug the grave on Wed. before the snow came so we could burry him.  The roads were well plowed and driveable.  They were still snow covered and slippery in spots but over all nice driving conditions.

I'm hoping it will snow here in Kentucky before I leave for Calif. on Thursday.  I know I won't be seeing any there.  lol
