Title: 2-1/2 year break is over Post by Drew_Va on Dec 6th, 2010 at 1:02pm
The Beast is back. Only the third fall occurence I have had in 34 years of dealing with these headaches. Of course, we are in a brutally busy time at work (planned outage at a power plant) so my stress level is up. O2 being delivered today. Have filed my appeal with Anthem for more immitrex injectables (they allow me 3 boxes per 30 days). Taking prednisone as a short term preventive. last cycle it worked; this cycle not so much. Have never found another preventive that worked and I think I have tried everything under the sun.
Am I missing something? |

If you haven't tried energy drinks, rock star, monster etc., many use to abort or reduce hits. I use it with my oxygen, down a can as I start huffing, seems to speed the abort time and pushes off the "come backer" attacks for several hours.

I hate prednisone also. Called it the incorrect term. Sorry. None of the preventatives have ever worked for me. Some have showed promise then faded. After this many years I have become resigned to not being able to prevent the headaches but instead concentrate on aborting the attacks. My cycles are every two years in the spring (except the three fall occurences). 6-8 weeks. 2-5 headaches per day. |

Just talked to my wife. The home medical care place delivered my 02. When I spoke with the manager he was bringing me the biggest cylinder they had. What they brought me was two small cyclinders. 20 minutes each. >:(

They dont have high pressure regulators needed for the high flow rates either.

That is why many go to clusterbusters. When the aborts quit working as well, at least there are other options for treatment. Ones that work. all the best the bb the biggest they got is E-tanks??? WTF? :o |

Amazingly, they did have a reguator that delivers 15-20 lpm. I was shocked. But I tend to be careful by nature so I have one being delivered tomorrow just in case. The reason I got the small tanks is my fault I guess. I told the store manager I had to have a base for the tanks (I have an 11, 5 and 3 year old in the house and I was concerned about the tank tipping)and apparently he was out of the stands for the large tank so he brought me 2 of what he had. He promised to swap out the tanks tomorrow. Ending on a happy note nothing but shadows today. 8-) |

Don't forget, you may (will) need the small tanks for travel.

I bolted a 70 pound welding tank to the wall next to the bed in our bedroom. Eyehooks screwed into studs and chained it up. We have an 18month old daughter whose nickname is Destructor- I too was worried about safety with her and her 4 year old sister around, but there are ways to make those tanks safe yourself if need be.

My two little ones are known as the Lil Reds (both are red heads). I've got the tanks out in the garage. |
