I said this on your FB page but I'll say it again here.  Beautiful tree and I'll bet those ornaments hold a lot of years of memories, don't they?

I won't be putting up my tree this yr. cause I'll be gone...but with 7 children I have so  many hand-made things to put on my tree each year.  Some are falling apart but I won't part with any of them even if I have to scotch-tape &  glue them.    ;D

Linda I know what you  mean. Years ago Joe's sister Angie was the preschool teacher for Patty's class. Well Patty wasnt in school the day of their Christmas party because she had pnemonia (asthmatic). So Angie dropped by after school with a litte bow made out of construction paper hung on a piece of yarn. Both the teachers "miss Angie and Miss Karen" signed it.

Miss Angie (Joe's sister) was killed that year on Christmas. The next year when we were decorating the tree I found that "ornament".  I took it to a friend of mine that had a laminator and he preserved it for us. That is just one of the treasures that hangs on our tree today.

I also have alot of ceramic ornaments my gramma made, and alot of tole-painted ones my granny painted. And then my sister makes me something every year.  I also over the years have exchanged ornaments with friends here and there in lieu of gifts. So many memories.

A few years ago Joe and I also started picking up an ornament when on our trips. So I have a moose from VT to add this year, a corvette from our trip to KY, and a train from the Atlanta underground!

We always buy an ornament when we go places. Our tree represents many things that we have experienced in our lives.

That is so great.   I've been doing that too.  My trip to Calif. will probably turn up another one for next year.  I just got an ornament in the French Quarter of a Beinet and a cup of coffee from our trip to LA.

I'd love to see everyone elses trees.   Start posting them folks.

Tree isn't up yet, but the Santas are.

It's sort of an unintended collection of figurines that has accumulated over the years.  There are some atrocious Santas, including the drunken Santa from EJ's youth, the Santa who's carrying something resembling bagpipes, the hillbilly Santa in a red pickup truck, and the Santa who's riding a bear.

I do not know where the Santas reside in the off-season, but they tend to reappear somewhere around the 5th of December.  There are many aspects of Christmas decorating around here that are an entire mystery to me.  I leave it to those with estrogen in their systems.

I do like the plaque that EJ put on the front door this year that says, "This is as merry as we get".   ;)

Best,

George

Nice tree - ours doesn't go up 'til Dec 22 as our son's birthday is Dec 21, so he has his birthday and then we think about christmas decorations.

We're putting ours up this weekend.  I've decided to keep the knick knacks to a minimum this year though.  I love Christmas and all, but it gets old when the house looks like it threw up Christmas. :P

We're not putting up a tree this year. We'll be out of town for Christmas. Actually we'll be out of the country. On the 20th we'll be going through the Panama Canal and on Christmas day we'll be cruising for Acapulco.
Nice warm, sunny Christmas. Today I gotta get the tux to the cleaners and schedule a bikini wax.

Lovely tree! I'm looking forward to seeing your trees, because neither my mother nor Esa wants to have a christmas tree this year. :(

I love those trees... I love picking one up (I'm good at it, learned from the master, my dad), I love decorating one, I love the scent of the real tree... I love the feeling the tree brings to a house. So yes, I'm sad that mom decided to ditch the tradition and that Esa is not into them.

Aguess I'm doomed to admiring the pictures, because I can't lift/drag a tree back in here on my own! ;D
(And yes,I have been planning to do just that...)

What a spetacular tree!  I had forgotten how much joy they can bring.  We havent put one up in 11+ years due to our blind dog running into it etc.  Now that our dog has passed away Ted asked me the other day if I wanted a tree.  I said no in my grief stricken voice.  Now a week latter and seeing this picture it makes me long for one.  I think next year for sure we will have one up.  Wont have all the fancy orniments that have special meaning but will be pretty non the less.

Ours is up.

We have a puppy this year so all the presents wrapped are up high out of reach, or in the treasure chest by the tree. So far she has not started to remove the decorations..

Sanna, yes you can lift a Christmas tree on your own!  If I can do it, you can do it. :)  Besides, you don't need a gigantic one.  Even if it's only 4 feet tall, you will still make it beautiful!

Mel, I think she's sad mainly because her Mother doesn't want one in the house and has ditched the tradition.

Sanna, please DO get a small one and put it in your room.  Thern you can fall asleep and wake up to the aroma of pine.

Mel,
Believe me, I'm a "can do" - type! ;) I did drag huge trees this summer after the storm, but the christmas trees they sell close to me are bit different story. They are huge in comparison to those "light" birches and we have lots of snow this year, record-breaking amounts. I can check out if they do have tiny ones in stock, but I doubt it.

Back in here, the christmas tree sales stands arrive later. If I recall correctly, the first ones should arrive some time next week, so I need to wait for a while before I can check the trees out.

Linda,
I have been wondering if I could "hide" one tree into our balcony and just wait how long it will take before Esa will notice it! ;D

Mom should still have a tiny plastic christmas tree they got me when I was about 5. Aguess I could get that from Mom's and place it somewhere. At least it looks like a christmas tree...

Oh yeah....nothing like Swede bake goods. It smells wonderful in Jamestown.....ten  thousand of Swedes here..... My other relatives don't want my Swedish butter cookies so I don't make them anymore. Fortunatley, all of this stuff can be bought in local bakeries. Cardamom coffee braid is my favorite. I, of course, have the pancake mix in my cupboard.

I doesn't look like much, but the granddaughters put on the decorations, they are 3 and 5. It looks magnifique to me. They had all this stuff to put on it and that's what they come up with. :-/ It's also their tree not mine, just ask'em. ;)

Loving everyone's tree's!  We bought our tree yesterday and it's waiting on the porch at the moment.  Hopefully we'll get the tree up and decorated tonight.  Toni had her xmas show last night so I'm starting to feel the Christmas spirit creepin in:-)

Thanks for the suggestion, Mel. I had a blast imagining me doing just that. ;)

My family does have a bit of land with the summer cottage, that would be the only place I could go and hack off the top of a christmas tree - legally. Too bad our land (well, that is just a bit around the cottage) does not have any big christmas trees, just so tiny ones, that the snow itself could have destroyed them and pine trees and birches.

Aguess it's time to enjoy what is: your pictures, the memories and soften E up for the next year... ;)

A bad photo of our tree.  (We never put one up until about a week before.)

As you can see, it's roughly the size of a sasquatch this year.  Ellen thought we should have a large one.  It's almost impossible to argue with Ellen, because she sounds so reasonable.

A mere week now to step carefully around this giant decorated creature, and to endure the accusatory stares of the santas on the mantle.   ;)

Merry Christmas, all.

Best wishes,

George
