I did a quick scan of the medical literature this week and found a couple of yes-no articles--nothing important enough that I saved any of the abstracts.
My overall sense is that, for CH, it's a work in progress re. its value. I'd exhaust trials of the established treatments before going the Botox route. |

Hello,
My treating neuro is at Swedish Pain and Headache Center. She heads the headache portion of that, and is also a researcher. 1-2 years ago I was invited to participate in a botox trial for headache relief. Knowing from this forum and other research that it was unlikely effective for cluster, I nevertheless volunteered. Upon interview, I was told the study was focused in treating MIGRAINES...and was not viable for cluster. Now, does this mean it is NOT? Nope....just that they didn't think it worthwhile to include ch in the trial....I trust her judgement. BTW...while I didn't follow the results in detail, I understand the trial was successful for migraine treatment.... and I'm sure was part of the overall study that confirmed that. Best, Jon |

I tried it several times for chronic ch. The reason I tried it so many times is the neuro told me it could take a while to build up in my system and be effective. I think it was 5 or 6 treatments I had befor I told the neuro no more. It didn't help one bit. Doesnt mean it wouldnt help you. Everyone is different. I would give it a try. Especially if you are running out of things to try.
