Title: A silly problem at work.
Post by luketd on Dec 21st, 2010 at 3:50pm
I could probably put this up in the funnies section as for the most part that is what i find it to be.

I posted up about this time last year when i started getting severe nose bleeds whilst i was having attacks but also after even very gentle nocks to my nose the rest of the time. This was the result of the large number of time that ive broken my nose (nothing to do with the CH's) but also the pressure from the attacks.

I work in the live event industry where taking recreational drugs of all types is commonplace and people fetching up with nosebleeds as a result is also fairly usual.

I have never ever taken anything i haven't been prescribed and have no intention of ever doing so, I used to be an international oarsman and have rather strong feelings on this and so find the assumptions that people in general and also my colleges make due to my periodical disappearances (attacks) and propensity for a bleeding nose very very frustrating.

This is sort of funny but also sort of tragic as its really and assumption and additional inconvenience that i could really do without. Anyway, thought id share that with everyone as i haven't posted up since the last time i was in cycle (nearly a year) and so thought i would see if anyone else has ever come across this rather ridiculous misconception before.

Oh yeah, but it has been "malingerer" for me.  When that happens I give the offender a copy of the letter to colleagues from the OUCH website (START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE).  They usually take a step back and appologize after reading it.  Then I point them to the best CH info website on the web (guess what that is?) for more info.

I have to admit though, I was one of those that looked at headache sufferers as malingerers until I started having CH about 15 or so years ago.  I pretty much felt the same way about back pain until I had my first herniated disk (3 spinal surgeries to date--2 cervical and 1 lumbar--with 3 levels of cervical fusion).
