Title: One of our best supporters. . . . Post by Mosaicwench on Dec 29th, 2010 at 4:54pm
has been under the weather and in the hospital for a few days (no, I don't have details). All I know is that she called an ambulance during the blizzard in NYC and when it hadn't come for over an hour, her daughter got her on a bus and got her to the hospital.
Please send prayers, vibes, and healing to Peppermint Patty. We love you Pep - a better new year MUST be in your future. |

Facebook reports that Rori talked to her and she should be home tomorrow sometime.
Modified to add: apparently it was a bad abdominal infection that is being treated with IV meds and she feels a little better but not great yet. Big sigh of relief. |

Hi everyone!
Wow, this is really nice. Pat, remind me to pinch your cheeks the next time I see you ;) See, what had happened was..... I woke up at 6:00 am feeling VERY ill with severe abdominal pain. Then there was the blizzard which had started the night before. I had cancelled the initial call to the ambulance after the first hour of the early morning, but as I felt worse, we called again. We ended up really waiting SIX hours for an ambulance that never showed. They did try to call and see if I still needed them though, but it was pointless. Well, my daughter was home from school and she had gone out to try and dig my car out all by herself. Kid's a little ambitious. :o She got the job done, engaging all the ..ahem.. male help that was out there shoveling snow as well. They were soooo glad to be helpful. ::) But really, there was no way I could drive, and god forbid we get stuck if I did - plus, where the hell would I park it, in a snow bank? So she insisted that I get to the hospital one way or another, because we really thought it was appendicitis. Between her and my mom, they got me to the corner and on a bus (after a long wait of course). The bus got stuck. And so did every other car in front of it. We finally got there at 2:30pm, and waited another 5 hours to be seen in triage, all night in the ER, and admitted at 2am. I was there for four days, felt better in two with meds... but the surgical team had me on the roster for gallbladder surgery. Then they served me food that was off limits, got sicker, so two days more, then Nurse Ratchett nearly killed me with a bubble in my IV which I pointed out [smiley=oops.gif] and they refused to give me a dx, even a preliminary one. I finally So that's the story, still taking meds and improving each day. Thanks for all the well wishes! It felt like hell but I know that people died around the lack of service because of the snowstorm, even one man in the ER due to shoveling, so I am grateful it was nothing worse than some vague abdominal infection. Lots of Love and Happy New Year friends! Pep |

Thanks for the update, hon. Why do things like this NEVER happen when it's 70 and sunny and there are no delays of any kind??
I'm glad you're feeling better. Don't wait too long to have it looked it - it may come back again. |

OMG, Pep. What a horrible ordeal you went through.
I'm so glad you are doing better, but keep close watch and get thee to 911 the second you think something's wrong again. Do not pass GO, do not collect your $200, just get to the ER. Praying that it never happens to you again, but if it does, praying really really hard for nice weather and clear roads. God bless your daughter! Sandy |
