HI VA,
There are a lot of people who cant work when there in cycle and i can understand how hard it is on the other hand there are people who are chronic and still manage a carreer. I am epesodic to wich most of my hits come at night, around 97%, wich leaves me exhausted. I allso work 3 shift of nights, days and early and i go to work with as little sleep as 2 hours but i have the advantage of 8 years in the army and im used to sleep deprevation over periods of time. allso the word cant isnt used in the army as cant means wont and wont isnt an option. so basically when i feel i cant go on or cant go to work i kick myself up the arse, stiff upper lip, bull dog spirit and pull on my reserves of energy to get things done.

Mark

While I believe I understand your doing so, it would be helpful to reduce yourself to one message reflecting the experience of a SINGLE individual.

It's a source of misdirection and confusion to "treat" a series of symptoms/issues rather than dealing with a whole person.

I managed a 30 year career in law enforcement, in between being an episodic CH'er. Working with a neuro to find an effective prevent, for me it was lithium, and then a decent abortive, for me that's oxygen 95% of the time, with the occasional imitrex jab.

In addition it's important you monitor your life style and attempt to identify potential triggers. For me they're alcohol, sustained stress, major sleep cycle disruptions, and allowing myself to get really really hungry.

It takes some serious work, an understanding boss, OXYGEN!!!!, and a competent neuro.

That about sums up life management with clusters.

I'd skip getting stoned as it's a vaso-dilator which will make your CHs worse (in contrast, oxygen is a vaso-constrictor and an amazingly effective abortive for CHs).

O2, used correctly, helps most people here abort a headache. There are other things you need to build into your life though for preventatives, things to avoid (Guiseppi touched on that), etc.

These are things you should discuss with a neuro that specializes in headaches.

(Edited to correct spelling)

I also understand feeling as if work is impossible.  I work a minimum of  ten hours day...with children... by myself.  Like Mark, I often have to give myself a swift kick and carry on.  And... If I can't manage it on my own, I come here for support.

Wait and see.... o2 will make a world of difference.
