Title: The beast is back!!! Post by chris420 on Jan 14th, 2011 at 11:38am
WOW! i thought when i kicked drugs the pain would have stopped. i was wrong! life was going soooo good until the begining of last month. started getting hit like everyother day. thought it was gonna be like that for this cycle....mild. but damn it i started getting hit 5-6 times a day and its been like that since dec. 6?.ive been doing the predislone for 3 days now and nothing. that usually gives me relief for the duration of the dose pack...not this time. my insurance at work doesnt start til march 1st. my cycle will be done by then. and to top it all off ive learned in recovery that my brain is fucked. from the aspect of growing up taking opiates. that my brain and body developed while on opiates. so ive been told that since that happened my brain wont want to respond to the theraputic meds that are out there for the HA. thats since it was 20 yeays of the abuse , that is the only thing my brain will respond to. that scares me!!! im trying to live life clean and work my program and stay off the shit. my sponsor tells me that i might have to take some opiates for the duration of this cycle. its getting to the point that its affecting my job and they just dont understand. i dont know what to do!!! go back on percocet for a month and deal with being addicted when the cycle is over or do i try and tough it out and just deal with the pain like i have been???? i just dont know!

OXYGEN! OXYGEN! OXYGEN! At a high flow rate.
Great job on kicking the drugs, Chris. Get set up with o2. It is a life saver. Jeannie |

Chris, you are in a tough spot and I won't try to make it sound easy. After i developed dependency to opiates for CH years ago I got myself off and took nothing for it for almost 20 years. Oxygen is about the best thing I can recommend at this point, and the higher the flow rate the better. I'd hate to see you start back on the hard stuff. It's much harder to kick it the second time. You will definitely be in my prayers.

O2 brother and get a bunch of the energy drinks, read up on the OT even without a script people have found ways to get it and I am sure they are here and would be glad to help you find a way and from what everyone says it works better than any pain medication anyway.
Went through the rehab thing with my wife luckily it was het not me but I know what you are talking about the brain and how messed up it gets. Stay away from the meds brother it is a slippery slope and from what I learned if you get even a toe on that slope you are off and running and not because you want to but because that is what the addict in your brain will want and he will win. Be strong and hang in there and get the drinks and the O2. |

1st off thank you potter. you always have words of wisdom for me. 2nd im scared to do the energy drinks. caffeine is such a trigger for me that i think i might die if i drink one. im just scared!!! ive never had to do this without my opiates to get me through it. what do i do with the energy drinks and what ones do i drink? i really dont wanna go back to the pills but my life is suffering big time like work and my personal life. this just fucking sucks!!!!

Chris, sorry the pain is back, but why no mention of trying o2? You know most of us use it to abort with great success. I would be thinking twice about getting back on the perks after being clean from them, but it is entirely your choice.

Chris, I prefer the 5 hr Energy. Smaller and easier to get down quickly at the beginning of a hit. If you are getting hit anyway the caffeine shouldn't make it worse I wouldn't think. O2 is really not all that expensive compared to narcs.

And you don't need a script for O2.

ya know chris you can always use welders o2. no script required. you can also rent the tank. have you ever thought about clusterbusting?

Title: Re: The beast is back!!! Post by chris420 on Jan 17th, 2011 at 12:39pm
Yes i have thought of busting. only problem is i live in an oxford house right now. the mushroom therapy has worked so well for me in the past. both times Ive done it my cycle was stopped in its tracks! i know it does work but like i said i can't do it. the people in this program Im in would never understand. and it sucks!!!! i got some Tordol from a doc the other day. got to get it filled and see if that works for me.

1st off, congratulations for getting that monkey off your back ;)

You won't know unless you give it a try. I'm not aware of the studies of ex-junkie CH sufferers proving that traditional HA meds have no effect. I'm also pretty sure that the people you've been working with in recovery have little (that is to say no) experience with CH directly. Find yourself a good headache specialist and get to work. It won't happen overnight. In the mean time, find your self some Oxygen, welders if you have to, and give that a serious try. O2 + an energy drink can kill an attack and stave off the beast for a bit. Good luck. -Dennis- |
