Title: Alcohol and Skull Cramps
Post by Rob C. on Jan 17th, 2011 at 9:15pm
Hey maybe this one has been beaten to death but I just saw this on another site and now has my curiosity is up.
About the only thing these days. For me it has always been alcohol of any brand, flavour, make up whatever plus cluster period equals attack within 45 minutes to an hour guarenteed every time. I was always under the impression that it was a common denominator for sufferers. I am starting to think maybe that's not true. Anybody out there not get hit with a drink.

No.  It's a very common trigger, particularly for episodics, but it's by no means universal.

Unfortunately, I'm one of those for whom it's an inevitable trigger while in cycle.

Best,

George

For episodics it is an almost universal trigger.

For chronics like myself and every chronic I've personally talked to or seen post here...no.

Why I didnt get on this board before i will never know. Just being able to communicate with Cracking Heads like myself seems to make you feel better.(Not that I have ever heard of feeling worse than a cluster.I am sure its out there but I have never heard it described.)

It used to be a sure trigger for me.  Weird that that I can drink now though.

My husband (a chronic for over 15 years...now in remission) was never able to drink without bringing on a cluster.  Even now, if he tries to have a drink, he gets a severe warning sign of an oncoming attack.  He says it's not worth it....gave up drinking totally.

More proof that the cause and effect is as individual as the sufferer.

I once made the mistake of admitting publicly I can drink what I like, when I like, subject only to availability, but after the hate-mail I received as a result I now keep it just my own dirty little secret.

Cheers and beers,

Anon.

I was thinking about saying me too here, but I'll only sign it as anon2.

Alcohol never had an effect on my CH. It doesn't seem to affect seizures for that matter.

Hi Chaps,
Booze is (for me during cycle) an invitation for him to knock louder when he calls....
But when I get a visit during the day from him and I have not had a drink (when I am night shifts)
I really do think he is taking the p*ss...so when I do have a drink between shifts I say to him:

"We will not go quietly into the night!

We will not vanish without a fight!

We're going to live on!

We're going to survive!"

Today, ( for one day anyway) we celebrate our Independence Day!

Cheers!

Gary
