Title: Verapamil and weight gain Post by suzieq6343 on Jan 21st, 2011 at 3:59pm
Just a quick question...
Is verap associated with weight gain, there's no mention on the information leaflet that comes in the pack? If it isn't I'll just have to stop eating......cake! :'( |

Hi Suzie,
I have recently decided to give up Verap, after being on it for more than a year, and try only an alternative method to treat my CH. (I had been using a combination of the two.) I have lost 9 lbs since I stopped taking it. I feel certain that the Verap was a contributor to me hanging on to the weight. Jeannie ETA: and putting it on in the first place. |

It certainly has its share of side effects. I first lost a bit of weight, then gained some. Light-headedness and I passed out a lot too. Killed the headaches quick though; a high dose breaks the cycle for me.
I'd trade a few pounds for being PF any and every day. |

Hi and thanks for your replies
I agree a few pounds is a small trade off to a PF existence! I have mentioned in a couple of my posts that I have only recently been diagnosed (Jan 2010) despite many many years of battling the dreaded beast, and following a medication holiday started the verap in July 2010, hadn't really noticed the weight going on until after Christmas and I have tried my usual healthy eating and increased exercise plan but I cant shift the weight :( at least if its a side effect I can accept that and its not the start of the middle age spread!!!! :o |
