Title: How things should be.

Sad but true.... Jails and Nursing Homes
by Someone Tinkering With Intelligence
Here's the way it should be:

Let's put the seniors in jail and the criminals in nursing homes.

This would correct two things in one motion:

Seniors would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.

They would receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs, etc.

They would receive money instead of having to pay it out.

They would have constant video monitoring, so they would be helped instantly if they fell or needed assistance.

Bedding would be washed twice a week and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.

A guard would check on them every 20 minutes.

All meals and snacks would be brought to them

They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.

They would have access to a library, weight/fitness room, spiritual counseling, a pool and education...and free admission to in-house concerts by nationally recognized entertainment artists.

Simple clothing - ie., shoes, slippers, pj's - and legal aid would be free, upon request.

There would be private, secure rooms provided for all with an outdoor exercise yard complete with gardens.

Each senior would have a P.C., T.V., phone and radio in their room at no cost.

They would receive daily phone calls.

There would be a board of directors to hear any complaints and the ACLU would fight for their rights and protection.

The guards would have a code of conduct to be strictly adhered to, with attorneys available, at no charge to protect the seniors and their families from abuse or neglect.

As for the criminals:

They would receive cold food.

They would be left alone and unsupervised.

They would receive showers once a week.

They would live in tiny rooms, for which they would have to pay $5,000 per month.

They would have no hope of ever getting out.

"Sounds like justice to me!"

Now if it was only possible to implement this.

Knitted mittens and scarves for all the guards.

Saturday night pinocle, guards versus lifers.  Guards get golf swing tips and hear a lot of good bs.

Sadly Potter, you're only barely scratching the surface. Society eats up these claims by defense attorneys and the ACLU that prisoners have it so rough. As a result, state prsioners have it better then most middle class americans. I could rant for hours about how spoiled these prisoners are, and how expensive their day to day keep is, but I'm just a bitter ex-cop so no one listens! ;)

Joe,

Maybe you should run for office, then you could be a bitter ex-cop politician that (almost) no one listens to.  (I would)  Maybe we could find a few others too.

I am an avid watcher of cop shows and the lock up shows and it just kills me to see these guys have it so good. Prison is supposed to be a deterrent but most of these guys have it far better behind bars then on the street so why wouldn’t they commit crime? Three square meals a day there own TV it is crazy but I do like the guy in AZ, the state tells him he has to give them a TV so he locks down the TV so it only gets a couple channels that he wants like the weather channel and I think CNN, maybe the sewing channel or something like that I forget.
I wish there were more like him that would try and make it not such a nice place for these guys, and why in the hell does the ACLU and the rest of them think about the victims of these people and what they have been subjected to instead of fighting for scum to have jail turned into the friggen Hilton.

Good stuff kids.

Still.....deliver me from reality prison tours and people being dragged away. It's overkill and exists only because it's cheap to produce. It pisses me off to have to pay Time-Warner to force this shit on me because I like TCM. It's getting as boring and TV poker.
