Hi y'all,
On advice found here, my wife, a long time cluster headache sufferer is now using and having great success with oxygen.
We REALLY appreciate the information!  Her clusters usually occur at night, frequently in bed.  10-15 minutes of O2 will do the trick.  She will then (sometimes) fall asleep with the O2 still running.  Danger.  Are there any timers out there that will cut the O2 flow after, say, 15 minutes?  Or, any other suggestions on how to solve this problem?

If a timer would cut off the flow of O2 while she had the mask on....
She would DIE
Perfectly good timers are available at the Church you attended when you got married....

I have no idea what you're talking about.  Just cut the strap off the mask.  Problem solved.

Actually, the mask doesn't work for her so she uses the mouth piece instead, so there's no possibility of suffocation.  For that reason, though (suffocation) I can understand why timers are not a common feature.  Still, though, the need remains, how to turn it off reliably so we don't waste the oxygen, or worse, have a fire.   
Still in need of suggestions!

No safety regulation organization in the world would allow something like this. She's going to have to shut it off herself.

ETA: Maybe she should place it somewhere other than next to the bed.

Hi David,
I apologise if I have caused any offence to you (or Potter) for my 'Newbie' comment...
I was merely echoing what I had read in the guidelines on this site on using O2 ....

"Cut off any elastic band that will hold the mask onto your face--if you fall asleep with the mask attached, you may suffocate if the oxygen supply runs out."

"SAFETY WARNING:

You must have a place that has NO open flames- NO SMOKING cigarettes, NO candles, NO fire! Oxygen can saturate your clothing, bed sheets, etc. and then catch on fire when you light a match. Be very careful and wait at least 30 minutes after using oxygen before smoking"

My concern was the scenario where your Wife turned on her side in her sleep with the mask pressed against her face, and the O2 switched itself off....

I would imagine the best solution would be to keep the mask well away from the bed!

Invest in an oxygen demand valve.  They work much the same as a SCUBA divers second stage regulator.  With no demand, there's no flow.

You'll need a new regulator with a DISS fitting to go along with the oxygen demand valve.  The photos below show both my home system and roadie M60 that I use for local travel.
