It's in the planning stages but it looks like Nashville, TN.....almost 100% sure.  We had a great convention there a few years ago....lots of fun!  Start planning now...sure would like to see a bunch of you all again.

But...nothing like having it in our own back yard so that takes a little disapointment away.

Sorry Brew.  The hotel that was supposed to hold it inexplicably raised the rates way above the original quotation and above a reasonable rate for us.  We had to look elsewhere and have been doing so as quickly as possible.

It's well, well worth a trip to Niagra Falls sometime. It's something you can only really comprehend by being there as seeing it on TV just doesn't do it any justice at all.

When you do go, visit the base of the American Falls as you can get very, very close to where the water lands and appreciate the power, then just compare the size of the Horseshoe Falls (the main one) and you'll truly understand the magnificance of the place.

Now if only TN was a bit closer to NZ...

Guess I never really cared about where it was.....I don't go for the scenery.  ;)

ETA: I will say it is gonna be a good excuse to hit Jack's BBQ.  :D

I'll certainly pass along the information about the OUCH convention. We do health segments regularly at CH5, so maybe there would be some
interest in the convention for that. Could you just make sure to get me the dates, times, and details about things that are going on? Then I'll pass along the necessary information to producers and news managers. Of course you know how news works, it always depends on if they want the
story and what's going on that day, but I'll certainly do what I can to avail them the opportunity to cover the event!

We used to do January in DAVENPORT IOWA.  That's no big deal for us, that's going SOUTH in the Winter.  Ask Giuseppi about it - he has a different perspective . . . . ;D

Western NC is nice almost year round ;)

You do get the occasional dusting of snow (somehow they think the 10" they got on CHristmas Day this year was a huge storm...and every now and then July gets into the upper 80's and lower 90's, but mostly that happens in June - or it has for the 3 June's I've spent here hehe)

Of course, the outside temp. doesn't matter much to me, it's the inside I'm interested in, with all the clusterfamily and the speakers ;)

This is shaping up to be one incredibly AWESOME convention!!

We looked at possibly Asheville, but it didn't come together.  Perhaps another year.  If you would like to do some research on hotels, etc. we would be interested in your input.

I love Asheville NC.  Good hotels, great places to eat, and lot of gloriously beautiful places to visit (Biltmore being first to mind, and the Blue Ridge Parkway). 

Asheville would be a great place to host our convention.  It's not a major hub airport but it does have good connections from just about everywhere.

How about, darling Cat, we start thinking about 2012 or 2013 in Asheville?  Would you consider beginning to pull together some ideas for us.  I volunteer to help you with it.

Mmm, after Chuck's little "dance" I figured Nashville still had this group blackballed.  ;)

As soon as Louise can get this convention squared away, she is going to be contact the CVBs in several cities (I do believe ashville in one) to see what we can come up with.

When we meet in Nashville this coming July, we should have some information to present to the members and get everyone's input.  Possibilites are~Chicago, Las Vegas and Ashville.  If anyone has any suggestions, we'd love to get your input.

Jerry, Sandy, I'd be happy to look into a few locations to see if there is anything we can pull together.

There are several hotels right by the airport that I'm sure we can get them to look at giving us a very good package.  I will get to work with the ladies from the 14th Weather squadron here as well to see what kind of a deal could be put together for a group rate to Biltmore Estates - it can be quite expensive going by ones and twos, but they are usually VERY open to group rates and setting up tours and special programs for groups.

I'll look into it and see what info I can get to you, then you can take it to the board and let me know if you want to have it here, and I will DEFINITELY take you up on the offer to help Sandy hehe.  I did the 2003 convention, they are a helluva lot of work, and I will be glad to take any and all offers of help if you decide Asheville is where to go :)

This photo was taken looking out the front window of the van as we were driving on the Elk Mountain / Ox Creek scenic highway, about 5 min. away from my house.

And if you check out the photos, you'll see that my yard is rather large, nearly 2 acres, so I'm sure if the convention ends up in Asheville, I can make arrangements to enjoy a lovely campfire beside the pond :)  I'm thinkin a few guitars and several CH voices would be a rather enjoyable time beside the campfire!

Cat, you are wonderful!  Of course, if we land at the Asheville airport we'll be landing in my wife's Grandfather's pasture, but we won't charge extra for it. ;)

Asheville is a beautiful area.  If you can get a good rate to the Biltmore you are doing something.  They don't like to cut prices very much.  Worth trying though.

Well she didn't interview me, the medical anchor woman did but Demetria covered it from the station.

Yup, been quite a while since I've hung around CH.com. Actually went PF for almost 3 years and had thoughts I might be finally done, but last autumn started in on a cycle. That one lasted a couple of months and then I was good until a couple of weeks ago when another cycle started.

This time O2 barely knocks them down a notch or two Kip so and I decided to poke around to see if anything was new.

Wish I could say I'm glad to be back, but you know how that goes. Good to see some old friends still posting away, though.

Bruce, 02 started failing me last cycle, first time ever for me. On Batch's advice, I started a regimen to alter my arterial PH, pretty simple:

Magnesium, Calcium Citrate with Vitamin D and zinc, washed down with fresh lemonade, up to 4X a day. I never went past 3X a day. In less then 36 hours 02 was kicking butt again.

Cheap, maybe worth a try.

High flow rate...minimun 15lpm using the Optimask (available in the CH.com store) has helped a lot of sufferers too.

Thanks Guiseppi ... definitely worth a try. Makes sense from a chemistry point of view as well ... sort of like a boost point for the O2 vasoconstriction effect.

The last Nashville convention was such a sucess because it was so centrally located that MOST folks could drive (saving money)   

This year Dr. Goadsby has agreed to speak, Bob Wold will be there talking about busting as well as a few others you need to hear.  Friday is pretty clear so we can all do some sight-seeing together and just sitting around, hanging out with friends is one of those things you can do for yourselves that will be so memorable and you'll never forget.  The information is important as well as the support of just talking to one another.

Just watch out for Beeull and his camera or you'll end up on the pic thread here,  around mid-July. Did I mention that those who come to their 1st. convention never ever miss another one??? 

My 1st. convention was in Atlanta and I flew in from Calif.  That was in 2000 and I haven't missed one yet.

For those who are going.....we have an auction to benefit O.U.C.H. every year.  Anything you can donate will be sold by Ruthie Harper (our auctioneer) and let me tell you how fun that auction has become.  Never has so many people laughed so hard for so long at an auction.  ;D    In the past Pat has generously donated one of her works of art,  we've had backpacks, purses, wine, gift baskets, sweaters and jackets, hats,  02 tank covers from Christy... etc. etc. etc.    If you can't be there but would like to donate something,  please contact OUCH.

If you're a sufferer and worry about bringing along a supporter who might feel left out, don't.

There is a group of us supporters who look forward with GREAT PLEASURE every year to getting together, swapping stories, tears, and lots and lots of laughs, along with plenty of sight seeing and shopping.  Granted, it's usually all women, but we've been known to drag Jim Welch along (Linda's darling hubster) and anyone else we can fold into our group.  We eat sleep breath and live CH with our sufferers all year long, this time is for US to recharge, too.  With Kentucky Ruth along we're guaranteed to eat on time  ;), and Christy can navigate us out of anywhere with her nifty GPS.  We're good to go!!
